It's quite a lame tournament, these are basically B-teams what are fielded there. Mostly young players who are playing their first matches for the NT.

Oskars Kļava, Genadijs Soloņicins and Edijs Danilovs of FHK Liepajas Metalurgs could make their international debuts for Latvia after being called up for the match against Lithuania in Kaunas on 21 May.

Estonia out
The neighbouring countries meet to compete for the Baltic Cup, currently held by Latvia, which is contested annually by the Baltic states. However, with Estonia deciding to withdraw, this year's event will comprise just one match.

Notable omissions
With Latvia coach Jurijs Andrejevs only able to select domestic-based players, several first-teamers are missing from the 18-man squad, allowing Kļava, Soloņicins and Danilovs the chance to make their international bows.

Coach Algimantas Liubinskas has named a home-based squad for Lithuania's Baltic Cup friendly against Latvia.

Local talent
Liubinskas sees the game in Kaunas on 21 May as an excellent opportunity to assess the standards of the players in the Lithuanian First Division. "We will see how high the standard of our home-based players is," he said. "However, that does not mean we will not be trying to win the match."

Baltic Cup
The Baltic Cup has been contested by Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia since 1928, but this season only Latvia and Lithuania are taking part with the Estonian Football Association withdrawing because the matches would have clashed with ones already scheduled in the Estonian domestic league.

Estonian withdrawal
Estonia and Latvia are also rivals in FIFA World Cup qualifying Group 3. As a result the Estonians have suggested that in future they will only play in the Baltic Cup, which has a parallel competition for Under-21 sides, every two years ahead of the finals of the major international tournaments.

Lithuania squad

Zutautas (KFK Siauliai), Padimanskas (FK Suduva), Regelskis (FBK Kaunas), Zelmikas (FBK Kaunas), Kancelskis (FBK Kaunas), Papeckys (FBK Kaunas), Graziunas (FK Žalgiris Vilnius), Paulauskas (FK Ekranas), Klimavicius (FK Ekranas), Tamosauskas (FBK Kaunas), Kucys (FK Ekranas), Maciulevicius (FK Suduva), Morinas (FK Žalgiris Vilnius), Poderis (FBK Kaunas), Preiksaitis (FK Vetra), Radzinevicius (FK Suduva), Laurisas (FK Atlantas), Velicka (FBK Kaunas), Beniusis (FBK Kaunas), Astrauskas (FK Vilnius), Juska (FK Silute).

The real reason behind Estonia's withdrawal is obviously the fact that we never win in this competition.;)

I remember that Estonia won one time in 1930-years, I don't remember exact year.
