Conte´s dispute with Juve

By Zoomsoccer, 2000-07-14

TURIN - July 14 (ZoomSoccer) - Juventus captain Antonio Conte could be about to leave the Stade Delle Alpi over a dispute with Luciano Moggi. The Juve director refuses to meet Conte to discuss an extension to his contract.

The midfielder wants to stay in Turin, but wants an increased salary and extended deal. He said, ´I´m looking for a contract for life with Juventus. I think I deserve it and I want to end my career with Juventus.´

But Conte is only a couple of months into a new contract and Moggi refuses to renegotiate. He said, ´We only just signed a new agreement with him two months ago. These players have to understand something - they can leave a team before they sign a contract, but once they sign, that contract stands. These are professional players.´

Juve tickets slump as fans protest

By Zoomsoccer, 2000-07-14

TURIN - July 14 (ZoomSoccer) - Juventus have only managed to sell 6,000 season tickets as fans protest over the situation at the Stade Delle Alpi. Juve´s supporters are reportedly bitterly disappointed over the manner with which they lost the scudetto last season, and believe the lack of new signings will leave them empty handed again.

While Lazio continue to strengthen their champions with Hernan Crespo, Claudio Lopez and Boudewijn Zenden, Juve have been quiet in the market.

French Euro 2000 hero David Trezeguet has arrived for £14m, but the fans are angered that Filippo Inzaghi is likely to make way for him. And Luciano Moggi has failed to sign a top class midfielder, after missing out on Stefano Fiore and Patrick Viera.

But Moggi believes the critics will be eating their words. He said, ´This team is stronger than last year's and will amaze you once again.´

He also announced that there will be no more new signings until Decmber 31st when Athirson arrives from Flamengo.

>>>This is getting serious, man. I'm not worried about Conte because i know damn right he is replaceable.
What I'm afraid is that Juve will sooner or later turn out and start being like Milan. The club will go quiet and slowly slip into the ranks of 2nd class clubs like Udinese/Bologna type. Face the fact man, if Lazio continue doing what they do every season, serie A will be a one man show and they will dominate the league like Juve and Milan did in the early years. I know, I know they look good on paper but what really counts is how they perform on the pitch but Lazio seem to leave other clubs behind everytime the transfer season starts. Boy, the more Lazio buy, the more i would love to see them fail.

But the truth is, i think there will be less and less Juve fans. Only those who know the real meaning and truly support the club will stay back while i believe in the future Lazio will get lots of benefits from their so-called 'dream team'. Our ticket sales are slumping and now even the captain wants to leave the club. I just can't imagine if Davids and Zidane were to leave the club. By then my as well close down business because i know very well Juve won't buy any big-name players and that is part of their problem. Of course fans will go jealous seeing other clubs getting all the good players, but don't get me wrong, to me, Juve's transfer campaign has been fine but i think they still can do better. It will be a tough season. Even if Juve can win, i think people will prefer to watch teams like Lazio and Roma because of their line-up.

I believe that if Lazio gets Cannavaro, that will be the beginning of a new domination by a single team and it won't stop unless someone does something. I dunno what.........

Look at Inter

All the players Inter buys and what good has it done them. Lazio will end the same way. I am having a difficult time understanding why they are making wholesale changes after a successful season. It is one thing to strengthen the club but another to change it completely. Every player on that team must be wondering about his future with the club. The message is clear with Juve. Zidane, Del Piero and Davids are the stars. They believe in those players. And those players will produce. Plus, look at all of the young signings Juve have made over the last year. They already have a team for the future. Lazio looks great on paper but let's see if they produce it on the pitch. I think they will have too many egos to deal with.

The thing about stars is they like too take the game into there own hands sometimes and if you have a whole team like that then you will see alot off unhappy players. Juve are well balanced with 4-5 stars that work well together, but they aslo have alot of solid well rounded players.

Lazio wont be exciting too watch, it will be like watching my younger bro(8yr old) playing soccer, although know too do is get the ball from the other team and run all by your self and put the ball in the net :D

What happened to Fiorentina last season? They had Chiesa, Batistuta, and Mijatovic, but they didn't produce squat! They looked like THE attacking outfit, but were they? NO!!!
Who cares who Lazio sign, they don't have a team... they have INDIVIDUALS.

Ticket sales are slumping, man. Juve fans wanna see star-players!!. Would u rather have a Conte poster in ur room or one with Figo, Kluiver, Crespo??

MAX:Well, Milan do seem to look a little desperate nowadays.
Lucky u guys still got Sheva. Admit it, Milan is not going through a good period now and I'm refering to this period......where fans riot for a big-name signing.

New Juve Signings

Just off the press. Juve has signed World and European champion Zinedine Zidane, Dutch star midfielder Edgar Davids and Italian ace Alexander Del Piero. You think any of those three will be able to sell tickets for the club?

You have the best signing of the summer and you dont know it!

Do you guys realised that you have Fabian O'Neill? one of the most complete midfielders in Seria A.He can play anchor, midfielder or mezzapunta.

If you had fought with the other 7 clubs for his singing then you might recognised his value.

Del Piero an Italian ace? In which game for the Azzuri has he been anything but a failure, let alone an ace. The media and JUVE fans love Del Piero, thats why he is still in the Azzuri, but he sucks.

Hey Yuan,
I agree with you over the Conte issue, but the stuff you said about Milan? Give me a break. A club doesnt need to lash out on the transfer market 100% of the time and the future of our club is secure, with young players like Shevchenko proving their worth to Milan already, and new players such as Roque Junior, Comandini and Coco eager to prove themselves. Milan is by no means 'fading away', on the contrary, they are gaining in strength and will always remain a force in the Serie A.

Remember that a large percentage of the Italian u-21 team ply their trade with Milan, with Abbiati and Ambrosini already being called into the main Azzurri squad and others like Gattuso to come in the future. It is a farce to say Milan is a lower class side than Juventus and I have no doubt that the Rossoneri will once again emerge as the dominant force in Italian and European football in the near future.

dj_osiris, MAX: Okay, sorry, i don't want to make things go out of hand here. It's just that while i was posting this topic, Lazio pissed the hell out of me and i was really angry that i just went on writing whatever came out of my mind. Right then, i read this article about Milan fans desperate for a star player and i thought about what Lazio were doing in the market. But one point for sure, Milan fans do sound A BIT desperate from the article.

So don't get it wrong though, i've got nothing against Milan. We all (well, most of us) hate what lazio have done to the market so far. It was that article......I'm cool now.........:)
