Game days:
July 2, 2009 1st qualifying round Europa League, 1st leg
July 9, 2009 1st qualifying round Europa League, 2nd leg
July 14/15, 2009 2nd qualifying round Champions League, 1st leg

One thing for sure, we'll see our clubs at least on this stage no promises for future rounds.:)

there are quite a few tricky opponents at this stage - Dinamo Zagreb, Partizan, Rosenborg... but still I think our clubs are more than capable of advancing to the next stage. Good draw will also help tremendously ;)

Zagreb, Haifa and Partizan are most dangerous..other ones should be tough but managable..I would love to see us getting Finnish or Baltic team..

Don't forget we had apparently "good" draw last year and what... 0 wins just 2pts all together?
In CL best draw for FK Baku will be:
FK Ventspils Lat, NK Maribor Slo (only because Gjoko wants them :))
FH Hafnarfjardar Isl Inter Turku Fin Ekranas Panevezys Lit
And with all these opponents, except Hafnarfjardar & Inter, imho we'll be underdogs.
Same goes for EL, only Georgia, Macedonia & Iceland reps will give us a good chance to advance, I'll even say we can beat Moldova clubs this time around.:)

I don't think it shouldn't be much challenge this time. from what I see lately, they are going downhill on club and NT level.

unfortunately the football is going downhill everywhere in the former USSR (except Russia and Ukraine of course).

Some time ago I read an article about some Moldovan football player who quit football and moved to Spain to work as... an illegal construction worker :dazed: Situation is not good in Georgia too... no money at all and players go without pay for months. Belarus too is in a bad shape. In Kazakhstan several clubs went bankrupt recently. Kairat Almaty for example declared bankruptcy and withdrew from championship. Uzbeks are doing pretty well on the other hand.

Quid, Belarus doing bad? BATE was in CL last year, it certainly boosted their league

On other issues, I agree

BATE isn't the only club in Belarus - while they do pretty well indeed, other clubs are not in a great shape. Financial crisis hit Belarus really hard.

Skola

are you kidding, bro? Of course, not. It is a war zone, there is no airport, and the stadium hasn't been accepted by the UEFA.
