Yesterday were held elections in IFA and Avi Luzon won the spot of new chairman. He will substitute Itche Menachem in March of next year after the game against England. It was obvious he would be chosen, he has a lo to finfluence over there.

He has new ideas to implement in the league, for example increasing the number of teams from 12 to 14 and reducing the number of foreign players in the league.

I am against his moves. Its not good for the league, and it probably won't go through. Gaydamak and Shahar will see to that.

How can someone who has connections to a team become the IFA chairman? thats nuts...

its like having the aids charity run by a CEO of a pharmacy company...

He was elected, it was made through democratic waysm don't worry:smileani: He won in 5 votes to 1 against Avi Reif, the other ocntender. Luzon has more influence and contacts and therefore more people would probably vote on him.

His ideas are good IMO. Our younger players will have more time of play. They already can't play abroad in the most precious years of their career from 18 -21 because of military service and then stay in Israel and are benched? Our NT won't reach anywhere like this. So i'm in favour for a reduction, it doesn't need to be a drastic one and the league will be more leveled.

What Luzon wants is to create a law which says you can register up to 5 foreigners, but only 4 will play in the league.

Even 3 sounds good enough. The rules of the Spanish league are a bit similar with their non-EU Limitations.

5 foreigners per team is the best for the israeli league because without foreigners our teams won't be so good in european campaigns any more.

look at haifa : masudi, boccoli and colautti scored against auxerre .

we want also our teams in europe and when the team plays on a high level in europe then also the israeli players will improve and also the israeli league !
without foreigners the israeli teams won't play much in europe and so the israeli players won't improve . (and we will be like Azerbaijan, Albania)

Increasing the number of teams from 12 to 14 BTW is a good idea because we would have more israeli players in ligat al who play against haifa, jerusalem and not against raanana or ashkelon .

That a stupid rule. If you have 5 foreigners then allow them to play at any time. If he only wants 4 foreigners to play then he should only allow 4 foreigners.

Not really.
The Spanish League can still have as many EU players as they want. And even the non-EU players end up getting EU citizenship(since most of them are South American and have European ancestry) or are allowed to be counted as Spanish if they play 5 years in Spain. Many La Liga clubs have more than 3 non-EU players.

btw.....if "King" Luzon increases the league to 14 teams, there will be 39 matches, not 26. With that many matches, the league will be over with 5 rounds to go. The shorter the season the better. It also means more meaningless matches at the end of the season, and less tv money for each club, because its spread out between more teams.

My idea:

12 teams
5 foreigners
- and allow players who have been playing in Israel for 5 years to be counted as Israeli.

or if we must have more teams then

16(better than 14) teams
unlimited foreigners

Israeli society has a problem thinking that the authority has to micro-manage everything and have their hands on everything. This is true in Israeli football as well. They have to learn how to leave things alone; fix whats broken, but if something is not broken then leave it alone.

ags i really think ur crazy, what do u want israel to be the next france!!!! :scream:
Whats so crazy about it? Can you name a small country that only has a small number of foreigners and have a good league?

And whats so bad about France. Their NT is one of the best and their teams always do well in Europe.

People have to decide whats more important: winning or pride. You can't have both.

I agree with AGS..

with the money flowing into Israel, you can easily have an Israeli leauge built on superstar players from abroad. Who can succeed in Europe and succeed in the domestic leauge....

this is a similar case with Croatia... but different..where u have so many players going abroad and so little attention to the domestic leauge...the whole leauge sucks accept for Hajuk, DK and Dinamo...the rest are Liga Leumit quality...

fully agree, bringing foreigners would raise our level. Just important that we still have some of our young players see some minutes at the same time. But as mentioned, if we want to see the league improve then we need to bring in the foreigners

AGS idea is nice, but i´m not in favor. I believe Luzon´s idea would be better for us. For example, the Israeli teams that represent us in Europe have good local players and can bring in 4 good foreigners. You guys mentioned Haifa vs Auxerre, if we had 4 foreigners only: Take Masoudi you have Melikson, take Collauti you have Arbeitman, so it means you have quality for replacement. Meanwhile our players, specially the young ones will have more opportunity and time of play.
And you guys are talking about small country, well take Croatia for example, they have more or less the same population we do and they do well, take Denmark, they have less population than we do, but they do well, so its not the question of size, but how to work.

you can't compare melikson and arbeitman to masoudi and collauti.
without these foreigners maccabi wouldn't reach the UC group stage.

5 foreigners per team and 16 teams in the Israeli League is the best option because then we would also have a bigger pool of israeli players.

you'll see if we build some good stadiums then the league will also increase , now they (IFA) don't want many teams with shitty stadiums !

Well of course that Masoudi and Collauti were important for Haifa´s success, but if Melikson and Arbeitman aren´t too worse than them and if hey had more time of play they would display better football and build more confidence. Collauti is not even considered a foreigner nowadays.

Like in everything in life you have the positive and the negative part. In this case the NT would thank the IFA for this attitude, on the other side the clubs could have its european campaigns ruined. IMO the NT is above the clubs and should be given priority. i also want the clubs to succeed, but they can through only 3 or 4 foreigners. Take Maccabi Tel Aviv when they entred the CL, they had only 3 foreigners on their team. Giovanini, Addo and Bruno Reis.

4 foreigners and 16 teams are good to me, do u think that the teams that finish in the last 2 positions this year will go down and 6 liga leumit teams will go up? or the league will stay the same and 4 leumit will go up??? also tell the teams u want for next year!! :lick:

Schnorrer's Fantasy Liga Ha'Al

Beitar Jerusalem
Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv
Hacoach Ramat Gan
Hapoel Ashkelon
Hapoel Beer Sheva
Hapoel Kfar Sava
Hapoel Kiryat Shmona
Hapoel Nazareth Ilith
Hapoel Petach Tikva
Hapoel Tel Aviv
Maccabi Haifa
Maccabi Herzlya
Maccabi Netanya
Maccabi Petach Tikva
Maccabi Tel aviv
Moadon Sports Ashdod

jesus i think we really need to do something about the Hapoels and Maccabis, so many, other thing i would like is that hapo and maca petach tikva melt in one team also hapo and macca beer7, by doing this maybe we can have another team in the league that can be Hapoel Akko, Hapoel Haifa or Irony Ramat Hasharon....

To make relegation fight intresting and also the Liga Leumit, you could make for example, 14 teams in the league, the last two are relegated automatically while the 12th place make a playoff game against the third of the Leumit.
