The place to be to discuss the greats of Austrian football, from the legends of the past like Hans Krankl, Bruno Pezzey, Toni Polster and Andreas Herzog to todays stars like Emanuel Pogatetz roud:
are there no Austrian posters here? I was surprised that it did not have it's own forum, even more susrprised that it's thread in this section of the forum has 0 replies.
10-man Wolfsberger beat Red Bull Salzburg at home and take the Bundesliga league, they have won 7 of 8 matches. I doubt this can last the whole season but an interesting development. The problem is the top two are so far ahead of the rest, 3rd place is already 10 points behind 1st
now wolfsberg has 21 points, salzburg 18, rapid 15.. rapid will face salzburg at home on weekend.. so there could be a nice battle of this three clubs for the title..
Salzburg won a cup-match againist wsk with 12-1, so they're back again.. rapid only 1-0 against wallern.. sturm graz defeated austria salzburg 5-0, but before and after the match there were some fights between the fans.. and a lot of pyro during the game....
Sinan Bytyqi a young and talented austrian player sat today on the bench of manchester cities squad againist sheffield wednesday, would be very nice if he can get some playing time at manchester...
Lazaro btw. was mentionned among the most hopeful under-19 talents of europe in a report of the german newspaper 'SportBild', I think he has a very good future..
concerning hajduk: beside gotal there's a new austrian player there.. david domej, former captain of the under17-nationalteam, they were playing at the U17-WC in 2013 with domej as captain
How is James Holland regarded in the Austrian League? I see his team defeated Salzburg. Whenever I've seen him play for Australia, he looks extremely average at best.
I'm back now
James Holland played some good seasons.. espescially 2012/13, when Austria Vienna won the title, but at the moment he's just average in Austria Bundesliga...
Austria won againist Moldova 2-1 (Alaba and Janko scored)
today they'll play againist montenegro
the youth national teams are quite successful
Under-17 won the first two qualification matches and go to the elite round.. captain lovric scored 2 of the 4 goals.. the third match will be tomorrow I think..
under-19 the same.. won the first two matches and are still qualificated for the elite round, there's still one game remaining, it's againist germany, maybe we'll get trashed by them..
under-21 plays at the moment the first friendly with the new team (players born in 1994or younger) they're 2-0in front.. friesenbichler and bytyqi scored.. for bytyqi it's the first game for the under-21... he even sat on the bench of manchester city main squad..
he's one of the most promising talents beside Lazaro, Sandi Lovric and Sabitzer
10 points from their opening 4 fixtures gives Austria a good opportunity to qualify automatically for Euro, especially considering the points being dropped by Sweden, Russia and Montenegro. The one slight concern is they face all three of those teams away from home in 2015 but as long as they win twice against Liechtenstein and against Moldova they should be ok for the top 2
Now they signed Takumi Minamino, one of the most exciting talents from the J-League. Another product of Cerezo Osaka - Shinji Kagawa, Takashi Inui, Hiroshi Kiyotake etc. so I can't wait to see what he produces for Salzburg.
Reports on Minamino here vary from 'RBS Sports Director admitted they were in talks with Liverpool for a transfer' to 'Minamino sure new January signing for Pool'.
Salzburg also signed djuricin from sturm graz and sold alan to china
sturm loaned avdijaj from schalke and got hartberg-striker edomwonyi as a part of the djuricin-deal
austria vienna tries to sell kamara and kienast, maybe Lask ist interested in Kienast, Kamara will go abroad.. the young kvasina has now his chance
With a victory in Moscow, Austria are very close to qualifying for Euro 2016. They have done well in the past few years developing some good players, most of the team are playing in strong leagues now, a far cry from the team who played at Euro 2008 which was honestly quite poor and mostly domestic based
While they won their CL qualifier without conceding an away goal against Malmo unlike last season, RB Salzburg have started the league campaign with two straight losses They certainly don't look at strong as the past few years with the focus shifting towards Leipzig
Congrats to Austria for qualifying for Euro, they did it in style as well, second most points only behind England with 28. Could be a dangerous team at Euro
Meanwhile in the league looks like things are returning to normal, Salzburg back on top but Austria Wien and Rapid Wien still within 2 points.
