I heard on the news tonight that Timmy Cahill will be fit for this one. Bresciano will play in midfield, Lazaridis at left back, Schwarzer in goal. Sans our ever-reliable "stars" Kewell and Viduka we're at full strength.

Line up is:

Mark Schwarzer (gk); Lucas Neill, Tony Popovic, Craig Moore (c), Stan Lazaridis; Marco Bresciano, Josip Skoko, Tim Cahill; Scott Chipperfield, Brett Emerton, John Aloisi.

I expect we'll play something like

-----------Schwarzer-----------
Niell - Moore - Popovic - Lazaridis
-------------Skoko--------------
---------Cahill ---Bresciano------
-Emerton------------Chipperfield-
-------------Aloisi---------------

I think this is the best sort of formation we should usually follow but with Grella where Skoko is, Kewell where Chipperfield is and Viduka up top. It's sort of a 4-3-3 slash 4-1-4-1 .. emerton and chipperfield as attacking wingers, cahill and brescinao attacking through the centre supporting aloisi and skoko holdig down the fort in the middle of the park.

I'll be there tomorrow night .. hope for a good display by our boys and hopefully come out with a comfortable win.

Skoko is twice the player Grella is, but for the other changes I agree..

Anyone else seen the Iraqi's with their flags driving, beeping their horns around everywhere (mainly inner west) in Sydney? :D

Looks spot on to me.

Similar to our best 11 of:

-----------Schwarzer-----------
Niell - Moore - Popovic - Lazaridis
-------------Skoko--------------
---------Cahill ---Bresciano------
-Emerton--------------Kewel-----
-------------Viduka---------------

Not clicking.

You can tell the lads have not played alot together.

However the makings of a a good side is present. Skoko looks solid in front of the back 4.

Emerton is strong on the left while Cahill & Bresciano each look class.

When Kewel & Dukes return you can sence something special.

May as well keep the Indonesia match in this thread. I doubt players like Bresciano, Skoko, Cahill etc. will be playing this one.

decent performance from the boys.
Iraq looked dangerous nearly every time they went forward (admittedly not much). Still we all know our defence isn't the best. i'd really be worried if we were missing our first choice defenders too because i've got no idea what other options we have.

Farina looked like a drunk after the game and only seemed to think our defending was a problem. i thought we sucked up front too. Aloisi was non-existent and by pushing Emerton too far forward Farina took him out of the game completely and left the whole right flamk to Neill to look after. Chipperfield wasn't even on the field in the game i saw.

Schwarzer was a bit dodgy on their goal and when he fumbled the ball but he's usually solid for us. Also Cahill needs to try to get involved in aspects of the game other than attempting to get himself on the scoresheet. otherwise everyone was ok.

I do.

Your Olympic side was under 23, and you were very lucky.

Both sides at full strength you are simply not in our class.

How many Iraq's would make Australia best 11?
