Crazy call.

It made me think that in the long run VAR may get rid of the linesmen for offside calls. It's just a tough thing to call, never really understood quite how they can look at the moment the ball is passed and at the same time whether the player is in line, let alone with the precision expected of them.

Well this will teach the detractors of VAR a lesson regarding its benefit :)

another video as the one in OP is geoblocked:

anyway, it's inevitable that human eye sometimes gets it wrong when defender and attacker move at opposite directions... it's a question of fractions of seconds

VAR is not needed in football as those occasional wrong calls balance each other out ... and there's lots of injustice in the current implementation of VAR too

Yeah, it is hilarious to claim that wrong decisions balance each other out. It is one thing to be against VAR and prefer more injustice but trying to defend it like that is just terrible.

VAR does not make wrong decisions go away completely but there are less than before.

Just because something is not 100% right all the time doesn't mean it is not better...

Oh the myth of bad calls even out of the season.
I remember Man Utd won the treble with several bad calls. Just imagine if they got some luck!

We're only at the start of the journey with VAR but already crap calls like the one above are overturned. It's taken ages for goal-line tech to come in ehen the tech has been avaliable for donkeys. They gave the dumb reason that it evens it self out over the season.

Imagine if it was the world cup final. 2-2 and as the corner came in he was inpeeded and could catch the ball and then it's put in the net. 2-3. Then in the last min the greatest ever player anyone had seen went one and one then scores. Then it was wrongly given offside.

Not only that but the cheating jerks were doped up on performance enhancing drugs.

Thankfully nothing like this ever happened, right?

The reason to not like VAR is because it is not doing enough vs what it is causing. Waste minutes - or not at all on clear cases - when so much time and money is spent on it is just bad. Two or three extra sets of eyes are added, slow motion and all camera are added and still there are numerous mistakes. Being satisfied with 'less mistakes' and 'improvement' is a bit odd and should not be the point of VAR. Some would argue that it will take time to make it better but the tech is not changing and the extra sets of eyes are still human and monitoring the same cameras.... tbh there is no case for 'takes time to make it perfect'
