Hello all,

Over the next few days we will be implementing some changes to our forum password strength and password expiration policies. To make sure you continue having the best experience possible on the community, we regularly monitor the site and the Internet to keep everyone's account information safe. We've recently become aware of a potential risk to some accounts coming from outside of this community. Just to be safe, we are implementing the following changes to improve security even further:

1) We are asking everyone to change their passwords (and will force a one time reset). Along with every user on the forum, new passwords will need to be more complex, and can't be simple words (sorry, you can't have "fluffy" as your password anymore!). Please use a password unique to this community. Reusing passwords can expose your account indirectly when other websites (Twitter, Linkedin, Badoo, etc) are compromised; and

2) Your passwords will expire on a 365 day basis. When you login on the 366th day, you will have to change it.

We'll also be sending out an email to users to let them know about the changes, in upcoming weeks.

Thanks all,

Helena

Message from Inacio:

ATTENTION: posters have not received the reset email hours after VS implemented it, we have checked our spam folders and there is nothing. Some of us have attempted to create a second account but that seems to (?) require email verification which again is not received. Therefore vast majority of users are locked out. We need to have a reset password link on the forum index page and not resort to requiring emails because hours after this there is no email at all.

I contacted VS via email and Helena was kind enough to provide me a temp password, I will reply to her email but also another mention here that users still can't login as there is no email (reset or anything) for them to use to reset passwords. If the email has not arrived so many hours later there should be a non email method, perhaps a a link on the forum index page where users coming on xt can see.

Yep, pretty solid fail this.

You can work around it by going through the "forgot password" route.

It worked for me Reza mate.

But I have loads who don't even know how to do it. Back when I was Admin I did it for them.

I'm in touch with them anyway so I hope we can sort them out!

It works now. It hasn't worked for hours before when I tried.

Ridiculous timing to have this during the one time every two years you cannot have it happen. :howler:

What kind of a moron kills a whole football forum in the middle of a major tournament? Don't mean to be rude, but this is just idiocy.

I tried "forgot password" again on another account I created. It seems to work. You still can't activate new accounts though.

And this is idiocy indeed. And I mean to be rude.

The timing, the scale and the implementation were all terrible.

password reset indeed works now

i'm with the others -- Euro and Copa America on... should've waited.

try to login normally; will probably fail, then there's a link in there that will send you an e-mail, and just follow the instructions in that e-mail... access restored as long you still have access to that e-mail address...

good thing i updated my e-mail 2 days ago :howler:

This is fvcked up!

There should:

A) been an announcement at least one week before
B) everyone should be told to make sure they have an active email
C) not done during a major tournement

I just got 5 members back posting again now this shit.

Amateurs!!!!!

You should know changing everyone's password the forum this size won't work!!

Idiots!! The email I used to register years ago no longer exists (which is no fault of mine, it was with a cable company back in the States). It shouldn't be this difficult to get my account back ffs
