Thought I'd start a UEFA Youth League separate thread so as not to clutter up the Champions League thread.

Athletic now heads into Matchday 2 today at BATE Borisov after dropping a 0-2 loss at Lezama to Shakhtar Donetsk.

GAME TIME:
3 p.m. CET/6 a.m. PT

WATCH: The last one was streamed live on http://www.athletic-club.net/ but there will be no stream this time.

TABLE (after 1 of 6 matchdays):
1. Shakhtar - 1-0-0, 3 points (2 goals away, 0 home)
2. Porto - 1-0-0, 3 points (2 goals home, 0 away)
3. BATE - 0-0-1, 0 points (0 goals home, 0 away)
4. Athletic - 0-0-1, 0 points (0 goals home, 0 away)

Here's the full schedule for the Catxorros:

Here's the full roster from the UEFA Youth League offiicial website. Out of the four teams in Group H, we have the least amount of 18-year-olds, so we are fielding the youngest team (Shakhtar is the oldest):

Players called by Joseba Etxeberria for the road game at BATE:

Goalkeepers:
Markel Areitio
Unai Etxebarria

Defenders:
Iñigo Baqué
Jon Sillero
Andoni López
Javier Alonso
Aitor Arego
Unai Núñez

Midfielders:
Iñigo Arzuaga
Jon Azpiazu
Gorka Garai
Alexander Valiño

Forwards:
Jurgi Oteo
Iñigo Córdoba
Andoni Fernández
Gorka Guruzeta
Iñigo Vicente
Asier Villalibre

NOTES:

• Xiker, Parra and Mediavilla are out of the lineup. Sillero is suiting up but doubtful with a knee injury. In other words, our back line is not at full strength. Hoping Baqué and Andoni López will stabilize that department and put out the fires when necessary.

• Offensively, Villalibre struggled early against Shakhtar but finally got into a rhythm the last 10 minutes. Hopefully he can build on that momentum for today. Córdoba also stood out with his streaks down the left flank.

• Jurgi will be depended on to create chances but also to provide leadership as the captain.

• Off the bench, Vicente caused problems for Shakhtar with his pace and dribbling to make space for himself to shoot.

• Again, we have the youngest side in the group (Everyone plays for third-division Basconia or lower except for Jurgi on Bilbao Athletic). Joseba has his work cut out for him tomorrow, but this BATE youth side is the weakest one in the group on paper so I'm still expecting a win here.

• According to lacanteradelezama.com, BATE's forward Antilevski, U-17 international for Belarus, is their most dangerous player.

• Here are the lineups (LINK to FULL PREVIEW: http://lacanteradelezama.com/2014/09/previa-uefa-youth-league-bate-athletic/):

BATE (4-2-3-1):

Karnitski

Bayduk - Rovbut - Pavlovets - Bury

Dzhigero - Khanevich

Bogush - Klimovich (C) - Antilevski

Petrusevich

ATHLETIC (4-4-2):

Etxebarria

Baqué - Alonso - Nuñez - Arego

Jurgi (C) - Azpiazu - Arzuaga - Córdoba

Guruzeta - Vicente

Referee: Yaroslav Kozyk (Ukraine).

31': Pavlovets ANOTHER shot on goal but Etxebarria saves. BATE now owns a 6-0 advantage in that department, but still 0-0 in the only stat that matters.

45': Jurgi with a shot on goal but saved by Karnitski.

HT: BATE 0-1 Athletic. The other Group H game ended 1-1, so if this result holds, Athletic would jump to third place behind Shakhtar and Porto.

63': SUB for BATE: Tishko IN, Antilevski OUT

Athletic has 11 shots but only 2 on goal. On the flip side, BATE has taken 8 shots but 6 on goal.

64': Just when I type that Jurgi with an effort on target but saved by Karnitski. Still 0-1 Athletic, but looking for that insurance goal. Also, these road goals might come in huge later so better collect as many as you can!
