Laporte: + Manchester Utd, Manchester City, etc. Until the summer finishes, we'll keep on reading about teams wanting to sign him.

I think I've read that Gurpegi might retire at the end of the next season if his knee problems keep on appearing, not this one.

Why would we keep Iago? I don't think he has much to offer.

He hasn't done bad, no? I guess Valverde will choose between Kepa and him during preseason, see no chances for Raúl, not even be given the chance to fight for the spot, but we will see.

Who would you keep? Iago or Kepa? If Kepa is going to fight for the starting spot with Gorka it's evident he should stay. If he's going to be his sub, it's not better for him to gain experience loaned as starter to some club in Primera/Segunda? I really don't know.

A player who had been rumoured for Athletic, former lezama right back Anaitz Arbilla currently in Rayo, has signed for Espanyol for the next 4 seasons.

Tell me I'm wrong. Surely Kepa has a bright future in front of him, but next year we'll need a good, experienced back-up for Gorka (just in case). I don't think Kepa can play from the next year, but Iago is surely not suited in my eyes as a good replacement. I really don't want Gorka to miss from any game next year, given that we'll play in Europe and try to be competitive in the league and the cup.
In Valverde I trust.

Is there any experienced back-up for Gorka in the market? Obvious answer is Ruffier but would you spend an important amount of money on a goalie with Kepa knocking on the first team door? (and Remiro soon).

So leaving Ruffier aside, from the rest of the options, is there a better goalie than Iago in the market? Riesgo? Zubikarai? Goitia? Not in my opinion. Honestly I can't think of any.

BTW, I did not mention it but he still have a buy-back option on Aitor Fernández until this June 30. He has played a good season with Villarreal B and has been in the first team list for some games, think has not made his debut in primera yet.

Lots of prasing for Jurgi Oteo by Valverde after the game in Somorrostro. Basically he mentioned what a good player the 17 years old is and said we need dribblers as him in the first team.

Surely there is place for another winger in the first team, currently we only have three: Muniain, Susaeta and Ibai. Jurgi´s main problem to promote 'as soon as possible' is Iker Guarrotxena.

Iker has played a fantastic season, but he is a totally different kind of player. If we could describe Oteo as a kind of Muniain with a good scoring record, Guarrotxena is a right footed version of Igor Gabilondo; strong, intelligent tactically, good at crossing and scoring.

Iker finished contract this summer, and had lots of offers, so Athletic has promoted him to the first team to execulte the 2 years automatic renewal, same as Albizua last season.

Hey guys reading your post's and comments on the squad building for next season!! What do you think our C/L expectations are? Knockout stages! Europa League place! or just happy to be there? As we have seen with all the top teams in Europe they pretty much have 2 teams for their Domestic & Champions League campaigns. So what's more important League security or Champions League glory?

Valverde has confirmed the following BA players for 2014-15 preseason:

Kepa Arrizabalaga
Unai Bustinza
Iker Guarrotxena
Ager Aketxe
Guillermo Fernández

Unai López hasn't been mentioned, my guess is that because he will be with the spanish u19, he will probably join later.

I might be jumping to an empty swimming pool but don't trust El Correo, Iker wants and will renew.

To be honest, I was also insecure if El Correo is worth a trust.. but on the other hand I am always pessimistic about very good players and their renewal.
