Sakiri stays put

Sakiri staying put at Hawthorns

Artim Sakiri has decided to fight for his place with promoted West Brom - after shrugging off interest from three other Premiership clubs.

The 30-year-old Macedonia international skipper made just nine starts for Gary Megson as Albion returned to the top flight, with 21 appearances from the bench.

But the former CSKA midfielder has made it clear he is looking to play in the Premiership with West Brom next season - and he is not moving from the West Midlands.

Sakiri - currently studying for his coaching badge - insists he still has a few more years left in his legs and he is not looking to hang up his boots for some considerable time.

The player's agent has confirmed three other big clubs had been in touch about him but he has pledged his future to Megson and his promoted squad.

And he feels Sakiri will be a much better player with a full pre-season's training under his belt after the disruption he suffered last summer over his work permit.

I'm very happy that hes staying as I think he will shine in the Prem where the game is more suited to his skills.

I hope "Our Tim" is fully fit for next season to show what he can do.

Can you tell me why Sakiri is not playing?
Is he not in form? Are there better players in his position? Problem with the coach?
Or another reason.
Thanks

I wish we knew!
All the fans want to see him, he has looked good when he came on.
TBH I dont know, nor do the other fans, we are very disappointed that he hasn't played, (not with Sakiri).

Sakiri heads for the exit
West Brom midfielder Artim Sakiri has admitted that he is frustrated by a
lack of first-team opportunities at The Hawthorns.

The 31-year-old FYR Macedonia international has yet to feature this term for
the Baggies and is considering a move away from the club to gain regular
first-team football.

Sakiri confirmed: "From the first day at West Brom, Gary Megson was always
saying to me that I have the qualities to play in the Premiership.

"I still believe in his words, but it is clear that I am not figuring in his
plans at the moment.

"If my position doesn't change before the winter, I hope that the club will
loan me somewhere until the end of the season so that I can play.

"It would be pointless for me to stay at West Brom until June if I am not
even on the bench.

"Sakiri joined Albion in the summer of 2003 from Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia,
but has made just nine starts for the Baggies since then.

Yeah maybe Albion arent really doing very well. It was a shame I know alot of people who were looking forward to watching him in the EPL but maybe this plea might give him another chance :)

Well the talk is Hoddle, but we will have to wait and see who Peace appoints.

Hoddle, Houlier, Robson (Bobby and Bryan)

I think many of the fans feel he is too old, but he used to play for West Brom so he is still fondly remembered.

Bobby has football in the blood, I dont think he can retire :)

Sakiri hopes raised

Oct 31 2004

Sunday Mercury

Albion outcast Artim Sakiri hopes to come back in from the cold
following the axing of Gary Megson this week.

The Macedonia skipper, who failed to woo Megson despite a six-month
chase for his signature, this week pleaded to be sent out on loan after been
frozen out of the first team.

According to Sakiri's advisors, however, those plans have been put on
ice with the arrival of a new manager imminent.

"Nobody likes to see anyone lose their job but, from a selfish point
of view, Gary Megson's departure has given Artim a fresh chance to have a
career at West Bromwich Albion," said his agent, Jon Hassell.

"He's 31 years old and captain of his national team. Playing for West
Brom's reserve team or any reserve team is not good for him.

"I know people might say it's only Macedonia but he has 65 caps and
it's strange that he isn't playing first- team football.

"That may change, as could his desire to move away from the Hawthorns
with a new manager about to come.

"It obviously depends who comes in and whether they fancy him or not
as a player.

"But at least he has got a fresh chance to prove himself now."

Sakiri has refused to kick up a stink despite being handed just six
competitive league starts last season.

And he will continue to play it cool, regardless of who steps into the
hot-seat.

"Artim is not the kind of guy to go looking for a confrontation or to
go shouting his mouth off," said Hassell.

Yeah I dont think Robson has taken to him. I would imagine we'd be looking to sell him in the Jan window.

I dont think he has ever been given the chance to shine really.
