Arsenal on FIFA collision course?

FIFA have reminded Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he may have to release his players for the world governing body's Centenary Match between France and Brazil at the Stade de France in May.

The fixture is scheduled for May 20 - just two days before the FA Cup final, a competition for which Arsenal are still in contention.

Wenger could be obliged to release French quartet Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord and Patrick Vieira was well as Brazilian Gilberto Silva for the match.

L'Equipe reported that FIFA wrote to Wenger: 'The date of the centenary match between France and Brazil has featured on the international harmonised calendar for more than two years.'

The match will celebrate the founding of the body by Frenchman Jules Rimet in 1904.

The letter also has implications for Manchester United and Chelsea who both have French and or Brazilian internationals on their books and could yet reach the cup final.
