These two players were great talents but alcohol kept them from reaching their full potential :(:(:(!

Ariel Ortega!!!

El Burrito Ortega was labeled the “next Maradona :proud:” and rightfully so. He was an amazing dribbler, superb speed, FK specialist, great vision, etc. He was a very solid player (way more complete than Messi :happy::happy:) for sure! He is still battling alcohol addiction at the moment. I want to wish him the very best!

Adriano was labeled the next “O Fenomeno :proud:” mainly by the Interisti :yuck: faithful :D:howler::howler:. Was he a super talent? Yes indeed he was. Adriano was fast, strong, and had a powerful left-foot! He won a few titles and trophies here and there but failed to impress. L’Imperatore is only 28 and might still have a good few seasons left in him. Last time Dagoods checked, Adriano was getting his arse handed to him by his girl friend in public ! Apparently, he still battling alcohol addiction but I have a feeling he might turn things around. Best of luck to you as well!

So who was the better talent/Who had more potential?

Uhmmmmmmm I think Ortega was the better player and had more potential :eek::eek:

Clearly Ortega. Adriano's game was more based on his complete physicality. He had footballing ability but was nowhere near the talent level of Ortega.

Potential isn't based only on talent level. Adriano was a super target man. He had every attribute needed.

I don't think Inter fans ever said Adriano was similar to fenomeno however, Adriano will always be the Imperatore.

Adriano made it to the top of Europe. He had 40 goals in one season. I think Adriano is the better player. In fact, the mans career is far from over. He still is a regular for the Brazillian national team and after this world cup I am sure he will come back to a big European club.

Imperatore is lethal and when fit is one of the most dangerous forwards in the world. The man is built like a beast and with his left foot he can strike from 40+ meters and still scorch the net.

Of course he will never be Fenomeno like, no one ever will.

El Borrito Ortega...i still don't think anybody was as close to Diego as Ortega was...Pablo Aimar had all tools too, but still not like Ortega, neither is Messi...amazing dribbler, gambetta style that too

A regular bench player for the selecao and mainly thanks to Duncega.
The only team that would want him is AS ROMA and we all know they are not a big club, at all!

Adriano was the ultimate striker, but with Ricky Bobby behind the wheel. If only his mind had been that of a higher primate (dolphine or above, I reckon), he could have become a true legend.

Adriano at his peak made BOTH Maldini and Nesta at their peaks struggle. Says a lot if you ask me.

Seriously, what did Ortega do? I don't remember anything significant.

Adriano until his father died had the potential to be the best in his time. Scoring at will- pretty much just gve him the ball and its a scoring chance. As soon as he was nearing the box it felt it was 50-50 he would score. His shot was that good. That along with his physique and his speed and he truly had it all. Unfortunately his tollbox blew up and everything was lost. What a waste, but such is life.

Adriano, clearly.

Guy for like 3 seasons was pretty much unplayable. He was like Drogba except more skillfull and with a way better shot. He had pretty much the best shot in the world.
