Argentina's defence

We play with 3 at the back. The starting line up should be: Pochettino-Ayala-Samuel. We'll be without Vivas, while Placente will be Samuel's back up. Placente is one of the major revelations in the Bundesliga where he is a key player for league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Placente is an excellent left back. Bayers' manager has said on a few occasions that Palcente is the most tactically aware player on the team.

Yes, he also commands respect as a central defender as he has playerd in that position on occasion.

We have some good young cenral defenders. Players such as Quiroga, Coloccini, Crosa and Cufre are amongst those to watch. Hopefully, for the WC, Bielsa will select from some of these players.

bielsa have always played:

Pochettino]------Ayala-------[Samuel

no speaking about that and that is for sure..!!

and for the replacement:

Vivas]-------Chamot--------[....??]

Vivas will not be going to the WC. Pochettino will start in his place. Quiroga or Chamot will be Ayala's back up while Placente will be Samuel's back up.

well our starting defense is a really good one. with pochettino, one of the best central backs of the french league this season (you should know about this San Siro), as the right central back, with ayala, easily the best central back in the spanish league, and samuel, who doenst need any introduction, i think.

thn we have two wingers in the midfield like zanetti and sorin (or kily) who run along all over thier side of the pitch. they defend great and they attack great as well.
then you have to add either simeone or almeyda as the central mid.

the only problem here, is a bielsas mistake. and its our defenses back up. he didnt let players like mendez, coloccini, cufre, crosa, dominguez, pelegrino. instead he just called defenders playing in europe like chamot (whose best days are over) or quiroga (who is not even a starter in sporting lisboa).
he should trust more in national players.

Why here all speak in english??

you know, this an international forum where most people cannot understand spanish. in fact there are 4 or 5 argentines here, and just 2 living there right now. so it wouldnt be fair for the other argentine fans (who are a lot, believe me) to write in english.

as a matter of fact, its not very easy for me to write in english, but this forum makes the effort worthy.

I completely agree batigold. We have some very good defenders, such as the players you have mentioned. I would add Milito to the list but I believe that the only reason he wasn't called up is because he missed close to 8 months through injury and has only returned.

Our defense played well yesterday against the germans, i hope we can mantain playing like this for the wc, it 's always necesary to mantain a good defense if you want to win the wc.

yep, our defense played well yesterday. quiroga had a good debut. he won a place for the WC for sure. what a lucky guy.
cruz has been playing since the first calling bielsa did and he is almost out.

about milito, this guy is a great player, i just hope he can recover from this injury. he was the captain and soul of independiente.

Sorin and Placente don't usually play in a three man defense, but i like Batigold's defense for WC 2006.....

Samuel plays as a leftback, he can also play as a sweeper just like in Roma, Quiroga can play as a rightback.
