I think Argentina need to find some top quality fullbacks and perhaps a number 9.If the big kid at Chelsea (Di Santo) gets some game-time and impresses he could maybe bring another dimension to the attack, given the relative heights of Messi, Aguero, Lavezzi, etc.

Core? We started the qualifiers without Veron and Cruz. I think Basile's biggest problem is that he doesn't have a core apart from Pato, Masch, Riquelme and Messi. Everybody else seems to be fair game, hell he even wanted to call up Palermo ffs.

Palermo deserves (or deserved) an other chance, although it is too late.
I believe the national team has been very unforgiving for Palermo. He paid too much for one single game although it is partly because at that time we had Crespo and Batistuta, but still it doesn't explain it.

Needless to say he is much better than Cruz, and we are desperate for a player in his postion, unlike Veron's position which we have many options.

I know he is old and certainly i do not want him in the national team, but all i am saying it was unfair his carrier in the national team end this way.
