All three clubs (River Plate, Boca Juniors & Rosario Central) performed well this week.
Quarter-Final results of the matches played this week are as follows:
El Nacional (Ecuador) 0-0 Boca Juniors
Rosario Central 3-2 Corinthians (Brazil)
Cerro Porteno (Paraguay) 0-4 River Plate
Aimar had an incredible game for River Plate last night and scored in the first half. He dominated the pitch and was the engine behind the goals. His team mate Saviola, also performed very well and scored the fourth and last goal, while Angel scored the other two goals. Bear in mind that this was an away victory! The return legs on all the above matches will be played next week.
All three Argentinean clubs are in a good position. Boca Juniors & River Plate will play at home. Rosario Central who won 3-2 (they were leading 3-0 with only 30 mins to go) have the unenviable task of playing their match in Brazil. Still, if they snatch a draw they will be able to proceed in the tournament. Boca drew away from home, but should have no problem in confronting El Nacional, when they meet next week. A victory for Boca, will see them proceed in the tournament.
Vamos Argentinos!!
