Looks like we'll be there again :D

Quote from the new Arsenal magazine, page 71 bottom of the page.

"So, if you're travelling to Amsterdam this summer to watch the Gunners play in the annual Ajax pre-season tournament, remember to pay your own homage to Grandpa Grape a.k.a. The Flying Dutchman - Arsenal's first foreign player."

It didn't say. Hopefully it's another South American team, and hopefully we get to actually play them instead of Panathinaikos ... again! :yuck:

they probably haven't decided yet then, we probably get automatic entry because of the 'Bergkamp' factor :pp

Speaking about South American teams, actually I'd really like to see Arsenal have a trip to Argentina or Brazil to have friendly matches with famous clubs there like River Plate, Boca Juniors, Sao Paulo, Corinthians, etc. in their own stadium. I know this is crazy idea, a very crazy one.

Maybe the result will not be favorable for us, at worst we can lose all matches to them as they don't want to be beaten in their own home ground. But the impact will be huge as we will be known worldwidely for being a real professional football club and sportmanship that seek adventure even to the opposite block of world football, while other clubs went to either to Asia to play against local teams or North America to play in the Champion World Series.

Zhuge, Wenger won't jetlag the players like that, that's why we don't go to North America or Asia, he liked the nice alps air in his own timezone, hopefully this year as there are no international tournament all our players will be fresh and we can pick the right team against the South Americans, last year against River we had a team of kids out, mind so did they.

No date, no teams announced until now. Hopefully not YOU again.... I will be in A-dam again the first weekend in August (when the Tournament normally takes place) and would like to see another english team of course. ;)

well titles in 2002 and 2004 would suggest it does. :)

Look at the big picture Jerny. How many clubs travelled to different continents and even then won the league and/or UCL. It doesn't make a difference that much. Now, Real's schedule for the trip to Asia was ridiculous! :stoned: That was the exception.

Whereas Milan, Juve, Chelsea, Utd and many others travelled to a different continent. It doesn't hurt the club. You get the promotion and you get the warm-up games.

Arsenal could well travel to Asia / America and it still won't hurt their preparation IMO.

they went there for the money, no other reason, it is absolutely obvious that the best preparation is in Europe in the mountain air, for anyone to state different is being an annoying contradictive loony, not that i'd ever accuse you of that :pp :D

Clown!

You guys went to one of the most relaxing places on earth to warm-up. It is hard to warm-up in those soothing conditions. Tear-drops of heaven.
