I've started the thread since we'll lose anyway.

As for the line-up. I was real surprised that PArdo didn't play yesterday after being praised so much by Gullit. Also the same with LAzovic but you'd expect it more after the way K2 clicked before the winterbreak. That saying I think some changes need to be made.

First of all, this diamond shape. Fine, it worked against Rosenborg who hadn't played for like 3 months but in the game against Excelsior and again yesterday in the first half (before Castelen came on making it no diamond anymore), it was clear that our midfield was unable to dominate. Reason being, it's a formation for counterattacking sides and it has no width, it was plain simple for our opponents to block us by simply packing the centre of midfield. I'd go back to a flat 4-4-2 with 2 real central midfielders and wingers.

Second change I'd make is to rest Kalou. He was on fire earlier in the season as we all know but his last performances, also before the winterbreak, have been well below his level. Not strange considering he's still very young and kids always have a dip, so it'd be best for him to be benched imo for the new hungrier Lazovic.

Other than that, I'd maybe play Pardo and Ghaly in the middle. Hofs or de Graaf on the right since Castelen even though he's a natrual right winger can't pass any left back on his current form.

I'd keep the back 4 as they'll need time and I'd rather have Gibbs than Paauwe who's a complete turtle. At least Gibbs has a little pace.

Babos I'd keep too since if Gullit was to drop him now, it'd shatter his confidence even more and be the end of his Feyenoord career. I'd stick by him and keep him till the end of the season. If he doesn't do well enough, then perhaps look at Gentenaar whos transferfree (and also cancel Aerts contract since he doesn't look that good this season), but I still believe in my heart that Babos will make it for us. A good keeper at NAC can't suddenly turn bad for us overnight.

So my line-up for Wednesday night

-------------Babos------------

Östlund--Saidi--Gibbs-Boschaart

Hofs----Pardo---Ghaly--Goor

----Kuijt---Lazovic------

We'll probably lose and who knows, if we get thrashed Gullit might even resign! but we'll let AZ have this game as long as Co comes south :shades:

I have very little hope for this match which is sad cause in the end the Amstel Cup could prove to be vital for a possible European adventure next season.

I too think he'll now start with Pardo and Lazo, but even that won't change much, since we're talking about mentality issues and a loser-syndrome that Gullit and co have slowly but steadily introduced in the squad.

Don't know what's up with Babos, but that first goal was truly depressing, I also think that he's a good goalie, but he's going through a rough patch, which is not all that surprising with a hardly existing defence in front of him.

Sheesh, look at how negative Gullit has made me and no Wally, I won't start anymore threads. ;)

IMO Patrick Mtiliga is Feyenoord best leftside defender. He is quite strong in defence, fast and plays very aggressive. It is on these side very important becouse Goor has tendency to go asleep from time to time during game. I absolutely dont understand why he (Mtiliga) is forgiven by all Feyenoord supporters on this forum!
It is also strange that he is 3rd player on LB possition after Boschaart and Basto(no comment about his abilities). Can you expain me this? Is he injured?
IMO Feyenoord should try:

-------------Babos------------

Gyan---Saidi----Gibbs---Mtiliga

Östlund----Pardo---Ghaly--Goor

--------Kuijt------Lazovic------

I am not sure about Gibbs (it is hard to say something about him only after one offcial game) and Pardo ( I only head about his great form, option here is Hofs despite poor preformance last game, but it was his first game)
Ostlund played well last game and I am sure he is able to play as a midfielder and exchange his possition with Gyan.

Because he is rubbish? No offence mate, but he has been playing like an amateur this season. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think the Feyenoord fans will agree with me on this one.

Yeah Mtiliga's been poor this season. Last season under Van Marwijk he looked to be a steady stand-in and looked defensively neat, but now under Gullit the whole defence has basically turned into a completely unorganized bunch of clowns  and Mtiliga in particular has looked poor when going forward. He basically just boots the ball out of play everytime he tries to pass forward
Pascal Boschaart's been ruled out today for tomorrows game as he's injured (no real loss as he showed he couldn't pass either against Vitesse  ) so a chance for either Basto or Mtiliga to play.

btw nice to see we have interested fans from as far as Poland, tfas  Dudek will always be a legend in my eyes. As for Smolarek, he's alright, not spectacular but I think his loan spell at Dortmund will do him good as it'll make him stronger and hopefully it'll convince the not so great trainer of a Gullit to use him more.

Prince, yeah it's live on SBS6 so prepare yourself for a night of laughter while I'll be preparing myself for another night to sob into my chips :( :D

I think these two teams are really gonna go for it. Feyenoord to salvage something out of this season. AZ coz it would be the next best thing to winning the title. Which probably isn't gonna happen, so 1 piece of silverware would still be amazing.

Welcome tfas! :)

Although I too intially liked Mtiliga's attacking drive, this season we've come to see that he hasnt got a clue when it comes to defending and positioning. And since Gyan is a decent backup and Ostlund was really signed to fill the gap Song left, I don't think they'll move him to midfield.

Other than that I think you have a decent team there. I agree with giving both Pardo and Lazo a shot since both seem very eager to shiow their skills.

Hopefully they surprise us tonight with a win, I don't care if it's AZ scoring own goals or penalties, as long as we go through.

hahahaha

loser Van Galen sent off

Perez should have been sent off for elbowing Kuijt but now has been sent off for handling the ball in the penalty area.

Filthy AZ :yuck: hope Aachen trash them

but Kuijt misses a penalty  back to earth. Still 0-0

hahaha lady luck has been very gentile towards us tonight! :D

Now I expect us to completely kill them off, 10! 10! 10!

Great header by Kuijt and Lazo's joy after he scored almost made me emotional. :proud:

Stupid Perez! Why did he punch the ball out of the goal? OK, Kuijt missed the penalty but he's off... :depress: I don't know if I'm happy that Feyenoord is winning, but maybe it's better...but I like to see Feyenoord no prices at all! But on the other hand, Ajax has a bigger chance to win against Feyenoord than AZ.

you should be happy :pp since AZ will be demoralised now after this and will miss Van Galen & Perez for at least 4 games imo. We've basically given PSV the title imo and you the 2nd CL spot tonight I think

No 10 as you ordered Drulo :groan: :D Instead we even managed to let them score, typical. Thank goodness Kuijt finished it off.

Good performance from Hofs and it would have been even nicer if Danko's shot went in off the woodwork instead of rebounding out. I hope Gullit keeps him in the first eleven for the game against Twente since it'll be stupid to bench a hungry striker and to put an out of form Kalou in. Nothing against Solomon but I think he needs a rest now and with a little brak now I'm confident he'll come back stronger.

Still nice to see us take revenge on AZ and see 2 of their thugs get sent off. Van Galen again :D
I've got a little bit more confidence now. Before today I'd have said we'd have no chance of getting a point away against Twente but now I reckon we're good enough for a point at least. Lets hope this is the turning point !

Typical, we can't even control midfield against 9 players! :rollani:

If someone had told me before the match that we would win 1-3 I'd be extremely happy, but I can't help but feel a bit dissapointed we didn't kill them off completely.
Still, hopefully this indeed proves to be a turning point.

As for the players, no more Castelen and Basto, both were crap. Pardo needs to play since we lack a playmaker in Ono's absence, Ghaly seemed to be the chosen one tonight and he actually did pretty well in that role. Ostlund started out good but dissapeared a bit during the rest of the match and Gibbs is clearly a decent defender, but his constant long balls make me wonder if he's really a footballer (and not a NFL kicker or sth). Hofs did ok, worked hard and ran a lot. Lazo had a tough time with Opdam and Kromkamp but he should have scored that second goal. Kuijt once again deserves all praise and Babos did well too.

BTW What was up with that gesture (shhh) Gullit made at the end? This win didn't have anything to do with him and if he thinks that we'll all just forgive and forget, he's got another thing coming. :fero:

FORZA FEYENOORD! And let's bring the cup home!

That's a bit harsh, Perez will be suspended for one, maybe two games tops.
Van Galen on the other hand, he'll get one hell of a ban... He's a recidivist and will be suspended for 5 or 6 games minimum :nasty:

I haven't seen the second half but it probably wasn't to good, judging by the score.

:howler:

Did any of you guys see the Hans Kraaij/Ruud Gullit clash just now?

Hans Kraaij might not be the brightest guy out there, but I have no doubt he's honest and Ruud once again made a fool out of himself in what looked like a typical third grade fued.

Better an idiot than a fatso, right Jorien? :wallbang:

Nope, after seeing Gullit behave like 'he' had turn round things with this game during the game I didn't feel the need to watch him in an interview. Certainly not with that other loney Kraaij.

We'll have to see on saturday if he really has sorted something.
