Are those Xanthi guys on acid or what?

OK, seriously, yet another Austrian going there and yet another controversial figure. Central midfielder and playmaker (or "playmaker", if you wish) Mr. Volkan Kahraman was hailed as one of the most gifted players there are over here, but in fact he did not make it anywhere (besides a stunt in a team called Pasching. After that he came back to FAK, never made it to first team, then was loaned out again, then loaned out to another club, etc. Now his FAK contract is cancelled and he went to Xanthi).

I mean, since the amazing Friese thing, well, perhaps Xanthi gets a hell of a player. From all the ones they signed, definitely the most gifted Austrian so far. In theory, at least....

Yeah, Xanthi has announced that Karhaman has signed a 4.5 years contract. Is he still in the national team? Is Kulovits?

Meanwhile, Friese has been horrible this season, so Xanthi asked him to sign a new contract for LESS money. He said no, so he's frozen out of the team and there are good chances they'll release him... So expect him to return to Austria (the country) perhaps.

You know what, that Xanthi/Austria thing must have that certain background.

First of all Kahraman has 5 isolated NT calls, had a good half-season in Pasching, but he never was anywhere near a real NT career. Thing is, he seems to be the essential beach-player. Caring about the cute looking dribble, hair is looking good, etc and all that. They say from talent he has it all, but he lacks everything else, as it seems. Clubs finding out about that: Austria Wien, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Excelsior Rotterdam, Trabon + Erzurum, SV Salzburg

As for Xanthi, the story seems to be repeating. There must be some money-for-themselves business between the Xanthi sports-director and some Austrian manager (Max Hagmayer, perhaps, having a slightly seedy reputation, like all those managers, or the notorious Skender Fani, the ultimate gangster, making gazillions from star players like Polster, Prohaska or Krankl, etc).

The trick is taking some Austrian player of some, but not much reputation and kinda just about falling to the deep hole (new Salzburg coach eliminated Kahraman from the roster)...and then sell the guy as whatever they sell him to the Xanthi fans, media and such.

Amo, who is in charge for acquisitions in Xanthi and do you know what Xanthi fans think about the Austrian influx frenzy?

And oh, Kulovits and NT career I never heard of. Probably arantes has background on him (plus knowledge what Friese did over here, which was pretty much, well.....)

And while watching the Grazer indoor cup, some Leoben-player (no idea who, I didn't give the indoor cup full visual attention) had an interview and got asked: "And what about the Xanthi-deal. Will it go through?" - "No, unfortunately, those plans won't go through"

Hagmayr...
