He's just saying that out of self-defense. It's all part of his 'woe is me, I have bad players, how am I suppose to compete with Juventus?' narrative, ignoring that he's spent a crap tonne. The players he's signed, for far more than Juventus did, has simply played worse. That's all. How much money has Jose spent on the likes of Bailley and Lindeldof?

Bentancur, who was signed for like 10m, bossed the midfield, while Fred, who was signed for 50m, couldn't get a game.
I realized this after as well watching other interviews of him. I've never seen Mourinho praise another team like that when he had a good squad, so it was definitely self-defence as you say. Especially after bonucci's laughable year last season.

juve look quite solid. Atletico haven't really created much despite playing at home.

Partey and Diego Costa suspended for the return leg.

Think they are favourites next season tbh..

Ronaldo just needed a year under his belt in Turdin, next season he will win them the coveted Treble for sure.

Would really like to know how it feels to transfer the GOAT... I'm sure Juve fans are getting drunk like after a CL win(which they have in the bag btw).

After almost a decade of making us feel like we can win the CL every season, good bye Galaxy Man :( Good bye God of Real Madrid...

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
I am a dreamer but when I wake,

You can't break my spirit

- it's my dreams you take.

And as you move on,

remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be

I've seen you cry,

I've seen you smile.

I've watched you sleeping for a while.

I'd be the father of your c...

I'd spend a lifetime with you.

I know your fears

and you know mine.

We've had our doubts

but now we're fine,

And I love you, I swear that's true.

I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover.

Goodbye my friend.

You have been the one.

You have been the one for me...

They've added Rabiot, Ramsey, De Ligt and possibly Icardi/Neymar this summer. Without really losing any player of note.

juve spending more than they ever did for the CL. When they bought Higuain in 2016 for 94million, he was the most expensive player ever in Serie A. Then juve broke that record by signing CR last summer for 100million. Now they bring in the most expensive CB in Serie A history in De ligt for 70-75million.

Sarri should have fun dealing with Rabiot's behaviour, de Ligt's agent and Ronaldo's ego.

Did somebody mention Neymar? :D

He'll be back smoking real cigs in no time.

Ronaldo: 'Juve will win Champions League'
By Football Italia staff

Cristiano Ronaldo is certain Juventus will win the Champions League “within the next two seasons,” hails ‘GOAT’ Gigi Buffon and reveals that Matthijs de Ligt message.

The Portugal international returned to Madrid on Monday to pick up the Marca Leyenda award, representing his legendary status in La Liga.

“I left Real Madrid last year because I needed fresh motivation to my career, having won everything here,” he told Marca.

“I needed a change to express my idea of football, because I think I still have a lot to offer to myself, to the fans and to Juventus. I’m sure that will continue and I’m happy to have won three trophies in my first year at Juventus, including the Nations League for Portugal.

“I am not remotely worried that I’m getting older and I don’t think there’s a physical issue, but rather it’s the psychological factor that will decide when I retire. I hope that nothing happens until I turn 40, but if it does, then that’s life. Everything has a beginning and an end, so Cristiano cannot last forever.

“For now, I feel strong and want to continue winning important trophies.”

Things have changed in Turin this summer with the arrival of new Coach Maurizio Sarri, replacing the more defensive Max Allegri, but the target remains the same – ending the Champions League drought.

“Only one team wins the Champions League per year, that doesn’t diminish other achievements. For example, Barcelona invested so much money in the last five years and didn’t win the Champions League.

“Juve have strengthened very well and have a team that will fight to win, as always, but the trophy depends on so many factors, coincidences, draws, groups, injuries and good luck.

“As I always say, we mustn’t be obsessed with the Champions League. Juventus will win it, if not this year, even if I hope we do, then it’ll be the next. Over the next two seasons, considering the way we’re working, we have all the ingredients to win.”

Gianluigi Buffon has returned to Turin after one season at Paris Saint-Germain and finally gets to be teammates with Ronaldo.

“He is a player I really admire, we’ve faced off many times and he told me that he’s happy to be playing with me. I replied exactly the same, because in my opinion he’s the best goalkeeper in the history of football, along with Iker Casillas.

“I was surprised by the Juve group dynamic, as I thought everyone would be out for themselves, but the truth is this is a very united squad and I get along with everyone. Logically, it’s easier with those who speak Portuguese or Spanish.”

Ronaldo was asked who he would sign for Juventus, if he had the power to do so.

“Great champions always end up at big clubs. I won’t name names, as I am very happy with the squad we’ve got. It’s a competitive team.

“I want to clear up that when I told Matthijs de Ligt to come to Juventus after the Nations League Final with the Netherlands, I was joking. I’d never try to influence a Coach or director on who to buy. Having said that, I’m very happy that he has joined us.”

Neymar was rumoured as an option for Juve after demanding a Paris Saint-Germain exit, but Ronaldo remains tight-lipped.

“He is a great player, there were rumours about Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juve… that’s the job of the media, they have to sell papers, but I think he’s staying in Paris.

“If he doesn’t, then I hope he joins a club where he’ll be happy, can express his idea of football and above all has no injuries. That’s what I wish for him.”

They know how to rule the transfer market. Mostly smart signings too.

Funny how Calciopoli didn't really make them skip a beat while all other big Italian clubs are basically in total crisis.
moratti him self said post 2007 Calcio is clean and honest. Can't argue with that. :)

R9 retired at age 34; unfortunately, injuries caught up to him.
CR7 at age 34 is utter crap; unlike R9 he never truly suffered any career ending injury(ies).

One was a football genius and the other a superb athlete at best.

He's been really bad entire month after playing half injured, seems step slower and cant dribble anymore.

Doesnt help, that despite being undefeated, Sarri has been truly mediocre coach, cant coach the team at all in any other way then slow possession game that creates no chances for Ronaldo or the attack in general.

The problem is that CR7 is not the kind of player a coach can tell what he has to do and what he has not to do. Another problem is that he clearly can't play with Dybala and Higuain and that it's pretty clear that the Higuain - Dybala duo works better than the duos including CR7. For all these reasons and considering that CR7 will soon be 35 yo it is very likely that this will be the last season of the Portuguese forward in Turin. That said, remarkable hairstyle, he hardly disappoints from that point of view.
