Johan Micoud is officially a Parma player. The French international attended a press conference at the Tardini on Thursday in the company of Gialloblu officials Enrico Fedele and Fabrizio Larini.

Micoud, 26, admitted that he had turned down other tempting offers to sample the best that the region of Emilia-Romagna has to offer: "I am thrilled to have chosen Parma. Thuram has spoken very highly of the club, and I will be playing among many great players in a team that harbours similarly big ambitions. I hope to improve tactically as the Italian championship is the best in the world."

Parma fans will remember Micoud from the 1998/99 season, when the Gialloblu managed to put six past his former club Bordeaux. Understandably, Johan does not harbour fond memories of that day: "For sure that was the worst defeat of my career, but we did come up against a class side. Anyway, I am happy now to be with Parma."

Micoud's sporting idol is Zinedine Zidane, the man who occupies his preferred position at the heart of the French national team: "He's a top, top player, very hard to mark, and he comes up with some magical touches. I hope I've learnt something from him."

That goes for us all, Johan.

Dont dissapoint us Johan. :)
