MILAN, April 9 - by Nadia Carminati (DS)
It is well known that at the end of the season Fabio Cannavaro will leave Parma, but his future is still vague for many specialists. Italian national team defender is valued at about 40 million Euros and a chase for Cannavaro has begun between Juventus and AC Milan. At the beginning Juventus had a slight advantage, but it seems that now AC Milan is closer to grab talented defender. Recently, Milan's official Adriano Galliani made an interesting offer of about 25 millions Euros, besides Brazilian defender Roque Junior. In case if two sides comes to an agreement, Juventus will surely try to sign Lazio's defender Alessandro Nesta.

Why do Juve need another CD ... these guys overthere think only about their difence, while it is obvious that since ZZ left they need some new strength in the midfield ... but a Central Deffender.
While on the other side this is all that we need ... Take him!

Everybody has their price...that includes Parma so when huge offers are made for their players, they're bound to accept one of them sooner or later.

As far as Canna goes, that's what we need. I haven't been able to see Milan play much at all this year with the limited coverage I get but obviously it's been a poor season and we need to improve our defence. Other aspects of the game that are lacking have reasons such as injury but in the defence, even a fully healthy defence just isn't on par with the other teams. We need a top quality defender unless we want to continue to be one of the so called "big clubs" with a mediocre defence.

I need no secret source to tell that we won't buy Cannavaro. I see Juventus and Roma being much closer than us. I don't see us doing that big an transfer.

If Milan buy him.... :) :) :) :) :)

Canna's agent has recently said that four clubs have asked about his availability. They are Juve,Milan,Real and United.

I dont think United stands much chance of getting him since the club will not be prepared to pay the price that the other clubs will be willing to dish out for him. However if Canna does move to Juve then I feel we have a good chance of landing Thuram at Old Trafford next season.:)

K-2, I agree with you, if Juve sign Canna, Thuram will be on his way to Old Trafford. All in all, not a bad result for United.

But as a Milan fan, I know how very much we need a player like Cannavaro considering our defense will in two years be without any Italian stars after both Maldini and Costacurta depart.

In another thread, someone rightfully lamented the fact that Milan has really neglected its youth system. And we see where that's getting us. Milan has been one of the many clubs to fully embrace the EU policy to stack their teams with "foreign" stars but at the expense of good or great Italian players.

In the pipeline we do have very good players like Coloccini, Pirlo, and Coco but we've loaned them out or sat them out on the bench too much for them to gain any quality experience.

To get Canna would mean Milan are serious about reassuming their place among football's elite. There was a time that not long ago, a player pursued by Milan would not dare say no. Those times have past but with Canna as a red and black, everything become possible again.

I think Canna will join Juve Thuram and Buffon are really appealing for him and its been on the cards for a while. We badly need some quality in defence Lucio,Kuffour,Hoffland some namescome to mind.Oarma are definately not the side they used to be these days they are very much concentrating on youth than anything else.

Like somebody mentioned, if Canna was to join Juve, it would almost certainly mean the Thuram would be leaving, probably to United. So with that being the likely scenario, I can't see Thuram pushing for Canna to come.

IVO,

Canna and Thuram are really great friends. So I'm not at all surprised that Thuram would recommend Juve. I think that for him personally (Thuram) it was not a good move, especially since he has to play outside of his favored center back role.

Plus, I'm not sure that Thuram and Lippi don't have a bit of personal problems between them. He's just never seemed to fit in there well.

Hopefully, both of these decisions (Thuram leaving Juve and Canna leaving Parma) can be made independently by Canna choosing the Rossoneri instead ;)

I guess I just find it odd that Thuram, although friends with Canna would encourage him to choose Juve because it would most likely result in Thuram moving away from Juve.

However, you're right, Canna can fix it by just coming to Milan, we need him more than Juve does.
