After Atlantis went bankrupt a new team was formed under the name of AC Allianssi. The team received new ownership & a new name although they still play at the same stadium the Silva Stadion in the suburbs of Helsinki. They also hoped to adopt the UEFA Cup spot that Atlantis won last year after winning the Finnish cup but UEFA chose not to hand the UEFA Cup spot to AC Allianssi as the team has just been formed this year. This is quite ironic as the team itself is the same except for a exceptions like Kimmo Tauriainen's departure for Start in Norway. Therefore MyPa will now adopt AC Allianssi's place in the UEFA Cup. The two Finnish clubs taking part in this year's UEFA Cup are HJK & MyPa. Tampere United will take part in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. Last year Finland had 3 UEFA Cup spots (HJK, FC Jokerit & MyPa) after MyPa gained a place in the cup for fair play it looks like they once again gained another spot through the "back door" this year.
