Here it is... the official season thread for my beloved local club VfB Leipzig. :)

We are currently playing in the german 4th division (Oberliga) and are still in the promotion hunt. :)

Great players we used to have in the nearer past include Bremen keeper Frank Rost, former Nationalmannschaft striker Bernd Hobsch, Karlsruhe defender Torsten Kracht, Wolfsburg striker Jürgen Rische, Swiss international Django Malacarne, former Inter striker Darko Pancev, former Bundesliga topscorer Roland Wohlfarth and many others. :)

Currently we are more relying on youngster coming through our ranks, lead on by former Bundesliga coach Dixie Dörner. Our currently most famous player should be Davor Krznaric who used to play in the 2nd Bundesliga... he is also our best player! A technican who is alone worth the ticket prize. :)

Unfortunatelly our glorious club is often harmed by dumb hooligans, fascists and rassists in the fan-stand who even abuze our own black player(s)... :(
That's also the reason why i don't go to games often these days.

Another problem is we always struggle with finances and are narrowly bankrupt at least once each season. :D

If you want some further infos... check:
VfB Leipzig Fanpage (not by me... but very good!!!)

Its all in german there but still u may find some infos if you want. Otherwise also don't hesistate to ask me! :)

I will tell you about our leage and next matches more in the next days! :)

Thank you, Frank, unfortunatelly i dunno how to do code so this is highly appreciated. :)

Yeah, SV Braunsbedra... :D Not only do they play like s*it, they also have a name like s*it. :D ;)

Some weeks ago we btw won the big derby at FC Sachsen Leipzig 1-0, thanks to a great solo-goal by Rock Embingou. :star:

Embingou is a Congolese nationalteam-player who used to play for Halle 96 and Altmark Stendal ... :D

Only the first one wins promotion?

A lot of tradition down there, not only VfB Leipzig, but also Dynamo Dresden, Jena,... What the hell happened to Chemnitz, going down to 5th league?

No, thats not Chemnitzer FC. ;) They are fighting for promotion in the third division... but i doubt they will do it. :)

Well, the first one actually is not promoted directly... the first one has a promotion-match against the winner of another group (likely Hertha BSC Amateure) and the winner of that one goes up. :(

I see.
Well, at least Leipzig is still in the race for the 1st place.

Something that can´t be said about Vienna, not even if we win our derby against Sportklub in 2 hours. :(

Good luck! :)

I don't think we will get 1st place though... 3 points can be a lot in this league... even if we win all our remaining matches... i think we won't be 1st. :(

We already lost one of our best players for next season - Daniel Ferl is going to Alemannia Aachen. Be happy, Frank! :D

And yesterday we completed the first new signing for next season... defender Peter Freund comes in from league rival Hallescher FC. He is 21 years old and should at least provide some cover. :)

Ehm yeah, Aachen :D
Na, I don't care about Alemannia, more Oberhausen :star:, but if Aachen would get promoted  I would have first league football here .

Why Oberhausen?
And why NOT Aachen? :D

Well, Aachen in the Bundesliga... seems quite unlikely to me. They don't have the financial background IMO: But then again Mainz does not have either and still they go up. :)

Oberhausen because my whole family was born there and my grandfather played for them. Btw, my great-grandfather had a life-time seat on the tribune?!?! after he retired as player there. In the 100 year book he is mentioned  :proud:, therefore I somehow like Oberhausen. Also they have always great coaches (Ristic or Steppi) and some great players who saw first league action.

Interesting. :) :star:

Well, i like Aleks Ristic very much, too. This guy is not only a great coach but always a funny guy... A famous quote by him: "I don't understand why my players miss scoring-opportunities although we never practise this in training" :D

And Steppi... erm... he was in charge of VfB Leipzig for about 6 months and almost ruined the whole club... :( Bastard!

Of the current RWO team i like Adis Obad a lot... don't ask me why... maybe i only like his name. :D

Orange, never ask Germans for something, as you can see, this "hardworking Germans"-myth is just fake. "Too lazy", "do it tomorrow"... ;)

And the last table:

Thank you for finding the table, much appreciated. :)

So Leipzig didn't play in the top division at that time then?
