Don't exaggerate, Mitrea was added and it makes all the difference...

FUNDAȘI: Andrei Rațiu (Huesca | Spania, 8/0), Cristian Manea (CFR Cluj, 18/2),

MIJLOCAȘI: Dennis Man (Parma |Italia, 14/4), Andrei Cordea (FCSB, 2/0), Daniel Boloca (Frosinone | Italia, 0/0), Marius Marin (Pisa | Italia, 6/0), Nicolae Păun (Sepsi OSK, 1/0), Tudor Băluță (Farul Constanța, 7/0), Darius Olaru (FCSB, 6/0), Denis Drăguș (Standard Liege | Belgia, 2/0),

ATACANȚI:

11 outfield players will likely be available for call up in 2027. 11.. Why call those others up to begin with if we are relegating this group? It's non-sensical to hand Camora and others a cap at this point. It makes no sense.

Like, Puscas, Alibec and Tanase the strikers when we have Munteanu, Miculescu and Cirjan who need the exposure and opportunity to showcase themselves.

Rus, Nedelcearu, Sorescu, Cicaldau, R. Marin, Puscas are young enough too... you include Paun who may be young but we don't even know if he deserves to be here now (GICA likes him though, so maybe)

And probably all GKs, that's still 20/27 or whatever...

I think Puscas reached his ceiling, so has Cicaldau, Marin. Nedelcearu is like 27? in Serie B.. In 5 years, 32/33 year old Serie C player isn't worthy of NT.

Bringing players for the future is a good point, but we can't make the whole squad solely by this. You need players of 'short term' too.

BTW what about Marian Huja (Petrolul). Apparently he's Portuguese and I don't know about his Romanian nationality (Romanian parents). He's 23. Quite solid defender and composed on the ball. Left footed. A bit slow.
If he's eligible, why Mitrea and not this guy who is much more interesting potentially speaking? This is where Claudiu makes a point. In cases like this.

It's also that these guys aren't performing head and shoulders above others in Liga 1 or abroad. Dragus, Stanciu, few others have decent numbers but otherwise, the ratings and performances are quite poor. Why are we not giving opportunity to some other players. It can pivot their careers in a positive direction with this exposure, where as some of these others have had exposure for years and years, but haven't taken advantage of the quality transfers most of them got.

Camora and Mitrea make no sense. The rest aren't a problem IMO

I hear many (not only here) who think bringing a bunch of kids will help in any way. A young player must be called when he did enough to be called, it's simple

Some recent cases of players that were called at a very young age I can remember:

Ivan, Manea, Dragus, Baluta, Tavi, Puscas, Dragusin, Markovic, Bumba...

Did it help the career of any of these? Did it help the NT? Dragus and Baluta are back this time, after an ordeal. Baluta is rushed because we lack options, Dragus deserves it altough he still hasn't exploded

IMO Munteanu would be another such case. Let him play at U21, show his worth there and see how he evolves

In the meantime we need a team that works, players with the right attitude (Edi insists on this and hope he is serious about it), keeping intensity troughout a game, and regaining some confidence in our quality. Maybe some players formed abroad like M.Marin, Boloca and such are a key to this

Al this is very hard without some experienced leaders BTW, which any NT has.
my thing is their performances arent worse than the ones called. in fact, in many cases like Munteanu, better.

Exactly. You could drop almost any of our players if we are judging by his performances for club and NT. So we would be changing 15 players every date to add the one in form in that period. It's impossible to build anything that way

Munteanu and Grameni are definately players we can promote on the short term, but we have no idea if they'll keep this level abroad as soon as they leave Romania (Munteanu we know wasn't considered). Only when they do better we can say they are better than Marin, Cicaldau, Puscas, etc
@NoName has a valid case for R.Marin for example, he does start weekly.. but lets say Puscas whose main job is to score goals:

13 minutes in Serie B this season while fit. He's a CF that has 8 goals in 30 matches for Romania. Half of those games against fairly weak opposition. He scored 18 in 25 for u21s.. It's a clear indication he will not improve. He's 26 years old and Torje has scored more goals than him in 12 months. Torje who barely played and has completely been dropped from any NT considerations. So why is Puscas considered without consequence?

The scary thing is, his 13 minutes will result in a start during one of or both of these games where he will be complete crap yet again, squandering opportunities. It's not that he isn't getting chances.. he gets breakaway after 1 on 1.. misses them all. Why are they so fixated on keeping him instead of trying options that are actually performing?

Think about this.. Andrei Ivan is 25 years old, 11 goals last season, 3 this season and has looked quite good in the past few games. In any logical mind, he is called before Puscas.

Andrei Ivan has been pure shit for the NT... And he's not a striker... Can be considered at LW given our injury situation but that's about it.
My point is that he's actually playing and scoring. If we want to talk merit. Who should be the Line-up is maybe the better question:

---------Alibec
Dragus------------Man(Cordea)
------M.Marin(Baluta)-Stanciu
Bancu-Nedelcelaru-Rus-Ratiu(Sorescu)
-----------Radu----------------

What it could be:

-------Alibec----Dragus---Eric
------M.Marin--Stanciu--Cordea
-Bancu---Nedelcelaru-Rus-Ratiu
-------------------Radu

Don't hold your breath.
If we still play as bad as in the past few months and years, still no evolution and development to be seen (Edi: 6 games, 0,67 points/game, 3!!! scored and 9 conceded...against the mighty Finland, 2x Montenegro, Bosnia, Israel and Greece) I hope he's gone asap...he should've been fired a long time ago honestly...how does he plan to turn this around??? I just don't see it....only chance is if God exists and he's a huge Romania fan....but that would mean he has slept the last 20 years...and honestly, not even miracles (plural!) can save this coach and his team.

I agree, but I also think we could throw a squad together that would beat this one, and it's a very random squad of non call ups:

---Eric--Munteanu--Torje
--Dragomir--Popescu--Nistor--Mitrita
-----Grigore---Dragusin---Tamas
------------Papp---------------------

This lineup alone would probably beat our current NT playing finland. That's sad, no?

yes, indeed, we dont have so much top 5 starters. We have players who didnt rezist in Turkey so they are now loaned in other (low) leagues. I heard Sumudica criticized Edward Iordanescu about Maxim and Mitrita. Maybe he had a point, but what glorious results have we with them in the squad? :(
I don't think it's about glorious results.. Mitrita almost never got starts and Maxim was shafted for half of his career when he was a top performer. In fact, I consider Maxim a fairly complete player now. He is far better defensively now than before.

Eric is the glaring wtf to me.. The guy is our best performer for 6? years now and isn't a fixed starter.

1. Ionuț Radu • 2. Andrei Rațiu • 3. Bogdan Mitrea • 4. Cristian Manea • 5. Ionuț Nedelcearu • 6. Tudor Băluță • 7. Denis Alibec • 8. Alexandru Cicâldău • 9. George Pușcaș • 10. Nicolae Stanciu • 11. Nicușor Bancu • 12. Horațiu Moldovan • 13. Deian Sorescu • 14. Marius Marin • 15. Darius Olaru • 16. Ștefan Târnovanu • 17. Adrian Rus • 18. Răzvan Marin • 19. Florin Tănase • 20. Dennis Man • 21. Denis Drăguș • 22. Mario Camora • 23. Andrei Cordea

Coman (injured?), Paun and Boloca (then why call them up...) out. And Burca, suspended, of course.

Radu

Ratiu - Rus - Nede - Bancu

Marin - Marin - Stanciu

Man ----- Alibec ----- Dragus

Best case scenario. I assume Tanase starts over Dragus and probably Cicaldau or Olaru over a not 100% fit Stanciu.

About the only thing I'm excited about is Radu's 3 year late debut.
I agree with everything here except maybe Marin-Marin.. I'd prefer Baluta over R.Marin.

A couple of things created by us. All of their chances (goal included) came after stupid balls lost by us. It was the same in June. We are experts creating counters for the rivals.

About the game, finally a good version of Razvan Marin with the NT. The counter that Puscas wasted because of a bad first touch is criminal. That's why we are where we are, and others are much better. You can't miss that as NT striker.
Stanciu deserved his goal. It's incredible his shooting technique. He's elite player in that aspect.
I think if he took the freekick we might have seen a 2-1 win.

Finland is one of those teams that's only as good as their opponents are bad. They have been around for 80+ years and the only time they qualified for anything was largely due to Bosnia's failures (dropping points against Greece twice, losing to Armenia) which enabled the Finns to finish ahead of us despite the fact that we beat them 4-1 at home in that qualifying campaign.
They were awful. We just lack any game-plan and real combination play in the final third.
