I love Atletico, but I think Sevilla would do better in CL. They had an awful start to the season, but lately they have played some great football. Atletico - as long as they have Pernia they aren't going to go anywhere in knockout stages. Serious.

Or maybe Spain should just be granted a 5th CL spot, like England once was. Difference is, neither of the bolded teams would choke, like Everton in qualifiers.

I prefer Sevilla since they play some bad ass futbol but i wouldnt mind seeing Atletico, its been a while since they've been there.

Atlético are actually still fourth considering they won against Sevilla twice this season, 4-3 at Vicente Calderón and 2-1 at Sanchéz Pizjúan

They're going to re-build the defence next season and Pernía will be gone to Segunda B by then. Also, the midfield is probably getting a upgrade centrally as well.

If Atlético wins against Espanyol and then manages to beat Deportivo at Vicente Calderón, then it doesn't matter if they lose to Valencia away and Sevilla beats Athletic with 18-0. That's why a win away to Espanyol is so vital.

EDIT: While being here: Atletico. Even though Barcelona and Atletico don't have friendly relationships, I do like them. Not as much as Athletic Bilbao, but still. I'll follow they games if they play CL, that's something I was never interested to do with Valencia or Sevilla.

Atléti has already signed Heitinga, now they're looking to sign another two or three defenders and a central midfielder. They wouldn't go far with the current squad, that's for sure.

The problem against Bolton was that they had 8 players out with either injuries or suspensions, 6 of those were starters. But yes, Atlético is not very reliable.
