The first round was completed today, no real upsets in terms of HNL teams but Dinamo did need a late penalty kick (controversial one apparently too) to beat Sloga Mravince. Rijeka had the most comfortable victory winning 9:0 against Krizevci. Hajduk defeat Vrapce 2:0 with both goals coming in the 2nd half

The draw for the 2nd round was already pre-made, the matches will be played on October 31. The final will be held in late May but the host has not yet been named

Second Round
Zelina (IV) vs. Dinamo Zagreb
Varazdin (II) vs. Rijeka
Sibenik (II) vs. Hajduk Split
Marsonia (III) vs. Slaven Belupo
Vinogradar (III) vs. Jadran LP (III)
Krk (III) vs. Osijek
Zadar (II) vs. Lokomotiva Zagreb
Inter Zapresic vs. Istra 1961

So a 3.HNL side guaranteed to make the quarters with a HNL matchup in the 2nd round as well. Varazdin-Rijeka could be interesting, Rijeka obvious heavy favorites but Varazdin an ambitious 2.HNL side and likely to play in the HNL next season

Hajduk and Rijeka had some difficulty beating their 2nd division opponents. Hajduk dominated in terms of chances but still needed ET to beat Sibenik with the winning goal coming in the 119th minute while Rijeka needed a 94th minute goal to win in Varazdin. The only lower division side remaining in the final 8 is third division side Vinogradar. Only HNL side eliminated this round was Istra who lost to Inter

Dinamo Zagreb vs. Slaven Belupo
Lokomotiva Zagreb vs. Rijeka
Osijek vs. Hajduk Split
Inter Zapresic vs. Vinogradar

Matches to be played in early December, that's probably the end for Hajduk but they haven't been drawn at home in the cup since the new format was formed (single elimination all the way). Last time they hosted a cup match was early 2016 and that was only because it was two legs, some coincidence :lala:

So when Hajduk don’t make it to even the SF of the Cup, get bounced out of Europe early (per usual) and finish bottom half of the table in the Mickey Mouse Prva Liga...

Inquiring minds want to know, who is to blame?

Word on the street is Mamic is hiding out in a selo in Hercegovina with multiple burner cell phones still pulling the strings from abroad. :proud:

you can talk Mamic out of Dinamo Zagreb, but not Dinamo Zagreb out of him. :proud:

So yes, Hajduk can technically still blame him for their current state.

Osijek and Dinamo advance to the semifinals joining Rijeka and Inter

Hajduk without Europe is looking likely next season, I won't rule it out completely as I don't know if Lokomotiva will keep up the pace but the room for error is thin and the team hasn't played well all season

Don't you know that everyone is conspiring against the Democratic People's Republic of Hajduk and centrally planning their hilarious demise? The HNS, UEFA, NASA, Orban and Putin's intelligence agencies too. :yess:
