Libya being eliminated this early is quite a surprise, failing to win at home cost them. Whoever faces Seychelles next should already advance to the group stage :D

Another upset as Guinea-Bissau easily dispatch Central African Republic who had some good results in the World Cup qualifying.

So the first round is complete, some very interesting results. I would consider the progress of the likes of Lesotho, Rwanda, Seychelles (albeit a walkover), Guinea-Bissau to be the big surprises so far. Neither of these sides though got an ideal draw in the next round

Second Round
Lesotho vs. Kenya
Uganda vs. Equatorial Guinea
Congo vs. Rwanda
Botswana vs. Guinea-Bissau
Sierra Leone vs. Seychelles
Benin vs. Malawi
Tanzania vs. Mozambique

These matches will be played on the weekend of July 18-20 (first leg) and August 1-3 (second leg). The winners of the two-leg playoff will enter the group stage qualification round which starts on the FIFA date in September. Hard to see any of these teams making it all the way to the final tournament

Sierra Leone through because Seychelles did not want to travel to them because of the Ebola outbreak in the region.

A galant way the Seychelles found of escaping another defeat.

Group G is pretty tough, I would assume the best third place team will be from there as long as nobody slips up against Botswana. The rest is pretty much straight forward but I doubt Cameroon will have easy time with DR Congo. Quite surprising that Cameroon kept on with Volker Finke, thought he would be the first manager sacked :pp

I think Group C is also difficult to predict. I don't see who are the clear favourites between Burkina, Angola and Gabon.

Good win by South Africa away in Sudan, but have Sudan regressed a bit in the past few years? I'm sure the political situation doesn't help

Now Ivory Coast are losing at home :D

Nigeria lost 3:2 to Congo
Ghana managed to salvage a draw against Uganda

Its still early and surely they will qualify comfortably at the end but some shocking results today

Ivory Coast with two goals in the second half managed to beat Sierra Leone

Tunisia needed a 90th minute penalty to beat Botswana at home

Mali-Malawi has been pushed to tomorrow due to heavy rains

Impressive win by Cameroon over Ivory Coast. The Indomitable Lions didn't beat the Elephants since 2005 and they did it with a bang. It looks like firing coaches is not always the best way to start a renovation.

Here's the beauty with which Clinton N'jie closed the score:

yeah watched the match, impressive though CIV defended poorly. Cameroon have almost completely revamped their squad from their World Cup debacle.

Congo's victory over Sudan puts some pressure on Nigeria to get a result in South Africa

Egypt lose their opening two fixtures, making likely 6 points necessary against group bottom feeders Botswana. Nigeria got a point in South Africa, not a bad result, had they lost they would have been in a bit of trouble too

I really don't see Egypt going through from that group even if they beat Botswana twice. Nigeria may still have a chance.

There are reports that Ghana have sacked Kwesi Appiah and have hired Milovan Rajevac who coached the team at the 2010 World Cup
