ITA-CRO was a relatively boring scoreless draw but Halilovic was by far the best player on the field for both sides

Sweden managed to get an important win against Switzerland without any of the teams being particularly impressive, especially in terms of overall play. Of the two games I saw yesterday, I'd say Croatia looks by far the best with Halilović who gives them an extra dimension with his quick turns and ability on the ball. I also liked Roguljić and Mamić.

As for the Swedish team, the goalkeeper, Mohlin looked very assured as well as Berisha before he probably broke his nose.

With 4 points each both Russia and Sweden have pretty much cemented a spot at the U17 World Cup next year. Croatia have no played two scoreless draws, poor finishing in both games.

But the guys mentioned on Eurosport, at this level the finishing seems to be bad in general

Anybody have an idea why these games are only 80 minutes? At both CONMEBOL and CONCACAF qualifying they played the full 90 and at the World Cup they will play full 90 as well

Italy with a nice comeback against Ukraine, scoring two goals in the final 5 minutes of the game. The first hour of the match was extremely boring, then Ukraine score a wonder goal (slight deflection) from a long range shot which woke Italy up

In Group A both matches ended in a draw

Slovakia, Sweden, Russia and Italy have already booked their tickets to the U17 FIFA World Cup.

Group A
1. Slovakia 4 3:2 +1
2. Sweden 4 2:1 +1
3. Switzerland 1 2:3 -1
4. Austria 1 1:2 -1

*Both Slovakia and Sweden have already qualified for the World Cup. Sweden and Slovakia play each other on Saturday and a draw will be enough to qualify both to the semis. Austria and Switzerland will need to win their final match and hope results go their way (Austria will want Slovakia to win, Swiss will want Sweden to win)

Group B
1. Russia 4 3:0 +3
2. Italy 4 2:1 +1
3. Croatia 2 0:0 0
4. Ukraine 0 1:5 -4

*Both Russia and Italy have already qualified for the World Cup. Similar to Group A, if they play a scoring draw they will both advance no matter what Croatia does. If one of them loses then a Croatia win will knock them out. Croatia only need a draw to qualify for the World Cup but need a win and a loser in the other match to advance to the semis. Ukraine are out of semifinal contention but can still qualify for the World Cup with a win over Croatia.

Horrible stuff between Italy and Russia.

Italy kept knocking the ball around in their backline like West Germany-Austria in 1982.

nothing UEFA can do about it really, this isn't the first or last time it will happen. It happened in the Championship 1-2 weeks ago, I remember it happening in the EPL a few years ago (Man U-Blackburn, except the media were afraid to lambast Man U) etc..

Gudelj is such a bad coach btw, no idea how he has kept the job for so long when every other youth team has changed coaches since Jozak got the director job. This Italy-Russia scenario doesn't change the fact Croatia didn't score a goal in nearly 2.5 games

Sweden and Russia are now playing in the second semi final and Sweden was reduced to 10 men right at the start of the 2nd half after a ridiculous 2nd yellow for Rakip. It wasn't even a foul. 0-0 after 54' now.

0-0 after regular time. No extra time at this level so they go straight to the penalty shoot out.

Sweden was better than Russia as long as they were 11 vs 11 but the game became scrappy after the sending off.
