The second division starts in a months time and like last season the champions will promote while the team in 2nd (license permitting) will participate in a two-leg playoff against the 9th place team in the HNL for promotion

Igor Stimac has left Zadar as they are looking for a swift return to the HNL. Stimac was expected to stay after his move to Iran broke down but today he announced he is leaving. The two newly promoted teams into the league are Sibenik and Dinamo Zagreb II :)yawn:). Dinamo Zagreb II cannot earn promotion. At the bottom, Dragovoljac was saved by license issues. Bottom three will go down but its never the case

1. Zadar
2. Sesvete
3. Gorica
4. Rudes
5. Imotski
6. Cibalia
7. Dugopolje
8. Segesta Sisak
9. Lucko
10. Hrvatski Dragovoljac
11. Sibenik
12. Dinamo Zagreb II

Zadar are already on their third manager and the season hasn't even started

Stimac left early in the preason and the replacement Zvonimir Juric resigned for personal reasons

horrible start to the season for Zadar, two home losses with a combined GD of 0:8, looks like a club which will sink like a rock but still early in the campaign

Dugopolje, Sibenik and Rudes have started with two wins, Dinamo II won their opening fixture but lost in Sibenik yesterday

Sibenik running away with it, 19 points from 7 matches and already have a 7 point lead on second place Cibalia. Another tough season for Dragovoljac it looks like, Zadar still in the bottom three

NK Zadar is on the verge of extinction, the clubs accounts are blocked and the players haven't been paid in months

Back to back losses for Sibenik means their lead at the top is cut to 5, it was 11 at one point. Cibalia look like the only legit contender to challenge them. Dragovoljac at the bottom

1. Sibenik 31
2. Cibalia 26
3. Sesvete 21
4. Lucko 20
5. Rudes 17
6. Gorica 17
7. Dugopolje 15
8. Dinamo II 15
9. Zadar 15
10. Segesta 13
11. Imotski 12
12. Dragovoljac 11

Since the last posting, Sibenik return to 10 points clear at the top with Cibalia and Sesvete fighting for second however it doesn't seem Sesvete have ambitions to go into the top flight. Imtoski bottom with Zadar only one point ahead of them. Dragovoljac have moved up three spots

1. Sibenik 38
2. Cibalia 28
3. Sesvete 27
4. Gorica 22
5. Dugopolje 21
6. Rudes 21
7. Lucko 21
8. Dinamo II 18
9. Dragovoljac 18
10. Segesta 17
11. Zadar 16
12. Imotski 15

Cibalia have cut Sibenik's lead down to 2 points with three matches remaining. However, both these sides did not receive their first division license yet, both sides owe debts

Zadar suffer back to back relegations, will be playing in the 3.HNL next season, in fact there are rumors they might cease to exist. Dragovoljac also might relegate...so more relatively 'big' names dropping like flies along with Varteks, Segesta, Marsonia, Medjimurje/Cakovec

Thanks, as ever, for the update, Hakduk.

Pretty depressing, isn't it? So few people go to matches, no TV rights (or maybe just a little if local channels cover matches?). The only hope is selling players.

The HNS will have to grant licences to teams otherwise the whole notion of professional football in Croatia will disappear.

total choke job by Sibenik as Cibalia have passed them in the standings with one match remaining. "Interesting" fight to avoid the drop, Zadar is already relegated but there are four clubs on 37 points (Dragovoljac, Segesta, Lucko and Imotski). As usual though its a mystery how many clubs will go down

The top teams in the 3.HNL are: Medjimurje, Solin and Novigrad...who will get a license for promotion I don't know

Cibalia went to a packed Subicevac and apparently parked the bus for a scoreless draw which was enough to win them the 2.HNL and they should earn promotion unless they don't get a license.

There's a big of a log-jam for the relegation spots outside of Zadar, might come down to some tie-breakers I think. Seems like Segesta might be down too, don't know who the third team is

Sibenik will have a chance to go up with a two-leg playoff against Istra

With only two 3.HNL teams getting a second division license (Solin and Novigrad) it appears only two sides will relegate. The certainty is Zadar, as of now the second side is Hrvatski Dragovoljac who earlier in the season won a game 1:0 over Rudes but the HNS overturned the result as Dragovoljac used an ineligible player. HD are protesting the result and in danger now is Segesta should HNS once again change the result

From the third tier only Medjimurje failed to get a license

Basically same old HNS politics
