Vratarja:
Marko Simeunoviè (Olympiakos Nicosia), Borut Mavriè (KD Olimpija).

Branilci:
Boštjan Cesar (Dinamo Zagreb), Fabijan Cipot (Al Arabi), Aleksander Knavs (Kaiserslautern), Aleš Kokot (Gorica), Muamer Vugdaliè (Domžale).

Vezisti:
Mile Aèimoviè (Lille), Nastja Èeh (Club Brugge), Adem Kapiè (Ferencvaroš), Amir Kariè (Torpedo Moskva), Robert Koren (Lillestroem), Miran Pavlin (Olympiakos Nicosia), Goran Šukalo (Unterhaching).

Napadalci:
Sebastjan Cimerotiè (KD Olimpija), Klemen Lavriè (Inter Zaprešiæ), Ermin Šiljak (Dalien), Zlatko Zahoviè (Benfica).

Really a lot of changes in the team! So much for the youth process of our NT that was so much talked about. Only one new player, Lavric is introduced. From what I get from the article Prašnikar is thinking of trying out more combinations in the future, but I somehow doubt it.
I whish nothing but the best for our team, and I want good results to keep coming and I can only whish that Prašnikar won't screw it up!

Well, that was expected, because with the league not started yet, on what basis could Prale select new players?

On what basis did he select them before, most of them didn't play for their clubs anyway.
I remember how he was so confident that he wouldn't call the players that don't play for their clubs, that he will not do the same "mistakes" Katanec did, and yet that's exactly what he is doing. I'm not saying those players didn't deserve to be in the team or that they did bad, it's just that he should better be quiet before he says something and knows in advance he'll have to eat it up.

Whats done is done, lets just hope for a decent show of our NT now  Hopefully this newcomer Lavric will get a turn in front of the goals ;) :star: :D

Zahovic returns to Slovenia fold

SL Benfica forward Zlatko Zahovic has reversed his decision to retire from international football and been named in Slovenia's squad for this month's friendly with Poland.

Pavlin also back
Zahovic, who turned 33 last Sunday, was selected alongside former national-team captain Miran Pavlin for the 18 February match in Spain, despite both declaring last November that they were concentrating on club football. The decision followed Slovenia's failure to reach the UEFA EURO 2004™ finals after losing their two-legged play-off against Croatia.

Tough group
Slovenia coach Bojan Prašnikar has largely gone for experience in his selection, with the start of the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign looming. The Slovenians are in Group 5 along with Italy, Norway, Slovenia, Scotland, Belarus and Moldova and begin with an away match against the Moldovans on 4 September.

Lavric chance
"The players on the list are the ones that have already been the core of the team," Prašnikar said. "There are no real novelties in the squad." However, one new face is the 22-year-old striker Klemen Lavric, who has been promoted from the Under-21 team.

Slovenia squad
Mavric, Simeunovic, Cesar, Cipot, Knavs, Kokot, Vugdalic, Acimovic, Ceh, Kapic, Karic, Koren, Pavlin, Šukalo, Cimerotic, Lavric, Šiljak, Zahovic.

I think not... He only started playing for the amateur squad this year... and the youth squad in which he played last year doesn't make him ready for the nt...

Stop rushing semler to the nt... there is a natural way for everything...

Good point, Ner_Zhul. Siljak and Cime still have a few years to go. If Semler is as talented as his team suggests, it's better to cherish his talent instead of getting into a too much, too soon situation.

Am... don't you think he should know the best players in the league by now?
Yes, but each time the league starts, new names come out (or at least play much better than they used to), that could be potential candidates for the NT. Trying to keep the old squad just because of their names, will drive us into Yugoslavia 2000-2002 fate.

Well, isn't prasnikar doing just that?
Seems like it, yes, but for this Poland friendly, he really didn't have much choice. Thus I would like to wait for the next friendly to give more precise opinion on this issue.

The winter James, the winter!;)

Prale should give more chance to the younger especially in friendlys like this. This is the time to try things out.
And I still don't know what to think of Zaho and Pajo for changing their minds. Very unresponsible!

I'm not doubting their abillities or quality and I sure as hell don't question their past credits for the NT! I do however their relationship towards the NT! Now they say they quit, the next day they don't anymore, so what's next? One should not play with things like that :groan: !

I guess you have a point there Walter :) But what goes through their minds we will never know ;) I think (hope) that the next time they decide to retire that it is final.
