INTER MOST LOVED TEAM IN CHINA
Friday, 17 February 2006 11:28:01

MILAN - According to the results of a new survey on the popularity of European clubs conducted by Chinese newspaper Titan Sports Daily, Inter are still the most loved team in China.

Inter retain top spot after last year's Internet poll carried out by the Chinese sports media's big three: Titan, CCTV5 and Sina.com.

This time, however, the survey was conducted via sms, with one vote allowed per telephone number to avoid the possibility of multiple votes per fan distorting the outcome.

The results of the poll are published in today's Titan Sports Daily as part of a feature article which includes an-depth analysis of Inter's fans in China thanks to the 4693 poll participants who also sent emails with replies to other questions about their support for the Nerazzurri.

"Many fans love Inter because of Massimo Moratti. They admire his spirit," reveals Titan's vice chief editor Luo Ming. "Inter's name and its worldwide significance is another reason. The club also has very good communication with its Chinese fans and this is an important aspect."

"Many began supporting Inter when Ronaldo started playing for them, but they didn't abandon the club after he transferred to Madrid. They decided to remain loyal to Inter and their support has become stronger over time."

Top ten most loved clubs in China:
Position - Club - Votes
1 Inter 6612
2 AC Milan 5533
3 Manchester United 3875
4 Chelsea 3715
5 Barcelona 1854
6 Juventus 1804
7 Real Madrid 1582
8 Bayern Munich 1566
9 Roma 1395
10 Liverpool 1283

INTER, PIRELLI TOGETHER FOR CHINA
Saturday, 18 March 2006 13:00:01
MILAN - It was in 1978 when Inter became the first professional football club in the world to visit China. Twenty-eight years on, Inter are the most-loved football club in China according to surveys conducted by the most important Chinese media, and the Serie A match against Livorno last 16 October, in which the Nerazzurri wore shirts with the Pirelli logo translated in Chinese characters and beat the Tuscan outfit 5-0, was watched by an estimated television audience of over 150 million.

Inter and club sponsor Pirelli, who have been present in China for years and who recently started producing tyres in the province of Shandong, have teamed up again to thank fans in China and in tomorrow's match against Lazio the Nerazzurri will come on to the pitch with the Pirelli logo in Chinese for the second time this season.

INTER.IT IN CHINESE WITH SINA
Tuesday, 26 September 2006 07:56:01

BEIJING - F.C. Internazionale Milano has signed an exclusive partnership with leading Chinese Internet portal Sina.com to develop, host and promote a Mandarin Chinese-language version of its official website inter.it, which was unveiled today in a press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Beijing. Inter's Chinese website was officially launched by representatives of both parties - Mr Chen Tong, senior vice president and chief editor of Sina.com, and Mr Angelo Mario Moratti, president of Inter Brand. Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso took part in the event via videoconference from Milan.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sina will provide a range of Inter-related content to the global Chinese community, to include latest club news and photos, live scores and match reports, in-depth statistics and player profiles.

Sina is a leading online media company and value-added information service provider in China and global Chinese communities. With a branded network of localized websites targeting Greater China and overseas Chinese, it provides services through five major business lines, providing an array of services including region-focused online portals, mobile value-added services, search and directory, interest-based and community-building channels, free and premium email, online games, virtual ISP, classified listings, fee-based services, e-commerce, and enterprise e-solutions.

Inter has forged strong links with China in recent years with initiatives such as the Inter Campus project in Qingdao, the friendly match against China Super League club Shanghai International in Trento in 2004, and last season's Serie A matches against Livorno and Lazio with the Pirelli logo on Inter's shirts translated in Chinese characters. Earlier this month, Chinese U21 internationals Wang Dalei and Zhang Wenzhao spent ten days training with Roberto Mancini and the Nerazzurri as part of a project to help develop China's emerging talents ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Mandarin Chinese-language version of inter.it is the latest of a series of projects aimed at bringing the club closer to its supporters in China and Chinese-speaking communities worldwide.

"It is with great enthusiasm that Inter has engaged in a partnership with Sina," said Inter Brand president Angelo Mario Moratti. "We are absolutely sure that having our official website in Chinese will help bridge the geographical distance that separates the club from its many and faithful fans in China. We want to get to know better our fans and also the football in this big and important nation, and in the next two years we hope to visit China with our team for our centenary."

Sina president Charles Chao added: "Inter are hugely popular in China. It is our aim to increase Inter's fanbase in China and the Chinese communities all over the world."

4693 voters from a country of plus 1 Billion people, that sounds accurate.

Couple of thousands are already enough to make a good poll.

While there are supports for other teams too... so I guess the figures could be more than 30,000...as an estimate.

When they do polls for bush ratings... there are sometimes a thousand or 2 thousand....What you need is a Ratio... and not intevewing 1 billion.

Your post is what´s not accurate. See here:

"The results of the poll are published in today's Titan Sports Daily as part of a feature article which includes an-depth analysis of Inter's fans in China thanks to the 4693 poll participants who also sent emails with replies to other questions about their support for the Nerazzurri."

If you read properly you see that 4693 isn´t the number of people who voted for their favourite-team.

"Top ten most loved clubs in China:
Position - Club - Votes
1 Inter 6612
2 AC Milan 5533
3 Manchester United 3875
4 Chelsea 3715
5 Barcelona 1854
6 Juventus 1804
7 Real Madrid 1582
8 Bayern Munich 1566
9 Roma 1395
10 Liverpool 1283"

Now, add these numbers together and you´ll clearly see that the number of voters surpasses 4693 by quite a margin. Please note that these are only the top ten teams.

But that´s not really the issue, you see this is how polls are generally done.

But hey, if you´re not satisfied with the outcome of the poll be my guest to carry out a complete survey covering all chinese people. Please come back and report the results once in a while so I can see where it´s heading. Maybe you could post a prediction after every hundred million people you interview?

Of course! As with everything else. But you guys would have surely won this. It's just too bad that Juventus couldn't afford a billion Maseratis.
