Last round and cup final to be played without fans, doesn't help Osijek but Loko aren't in the best of form either

Junak Sinj and Opatija win their playoff and will enter the 2.HNL next season, Junak look decent but Opatija-Mladost was tough to watch both legs, real difference was Opatija had some guys with HNL experience (Ivesa, Weitzer, Bertosa) while one guy coming off the bench for Mladost had a beer belly

Osijek lost at home to Loko and fall to 4th, for a while it looked like Rijeka was going to grab the 2nd spot but an own goal late in the match gave Loko the win. Loko are already losing like 5 first teamers, I'm sure Dinamo will send them more players but not ideal for them in such a short time. The European places are settled even before the cup final

Both Dinamo and Loko will enter the 2nd round CL qualifying, Loko already know their potential opponents (Viktoria Plzen, Rapid Vienna, Besiktas); Rijeka enter the EL 3rd round qualifying while both Osijek and Hajduk start in the 2nd round

Rijeka win the cup, first half was snoozefest, the second half was better, Loko had the better chances but Rijeka were clinical. This is Rijeka's 6th cup with now ties Hajduk, their third in the last four seasons.

Tomorrow is the first leg of Istra-Orijent relegation playoff, first leg in Kantrida where Orijent would play their home matches should they go up, return leg on Wednesday, Istra heavy favorites

Istra will likely remain in the first division, they won 3:0 in Kantrida against Orijent, completely one sided match and not helped that Orijent went down to 10 midway through the first half after a brutal high tackle. Istra could have easily scored a few more if their finishing was better

Istra actually lost the return leg 1:0 but they remain in the league, the gap between the two divisions is simply too high and the HNS will get rid of the playoff starting next season. Sibenik clear favorites for the drop, though the last three seasons the newly promoted sides stayed up and each time fairly comfortably, however it doesn't appear there will be a Rudes/Inter Zapresic type club next season who go broke halfway through the season and field noncompetitive squads

In a few years with the new TV deal which was made official a few days ago by Suker there will be a complete restructure of the Croatian football pyramid, the top flight will remain 10 clubs but the second division will be reduced and the third tier will be national. They signed a 10-year deal (starting 20222) with some Swedish/British company who will handle all production. The deal is worth aprox 10m euros a season, which is peanuts compared to most leagues in Europe but still a decent increase over the current TV deal. There is some concern though as a 10-year deal is seen as too long and this company is barely a year old with no real track record. Hajduk were trying to sell the rights to their games individually, something not really done in Europe but common in Mexico

Also next season HNL loses a spot in Europe so 5th place won't mean anything
