|Dmitriy||Hughes reminds me of Kane, Kakko more so Forsberg.|

NHL draft is concluded, Hughes was the #1 pick as expected with Kakko going to the Rangers which will be an interesting rivalry to keep track of as they are now divisional rivals.
Big trade news as P.K. Subban to the Devils in exchange for relatively little (Santini, a prospect and a couple of picks). Marleau traded to Carolina while J.T. Miller traded to the Canucks as the Lightning are in cap hell

NY Rangers acquire Jacob Trouba from the Jets for Neal Pionk (decent young d-man) and a late 1st round pick
Dallas Eakins gets a second chance at coaching in the NHL, he has been hired by the Ducks, which was fully expected since Caryle was fired (he was coaching the Ducks' AHL affiliate)
The new coaches for next season
- Joel Quenneville (Florida)
- Alain Vigneault (Philadelphia)
- Todd McLellan (Los Angeles)
- Ralph Krueger (Buffalo)...interesting route for him, he was actually working with Southampton in the Premier League last 4 years
- D.J. Smith (Ottawa)
- Dave Tippett (Edmonton)

Happy for Blues fans but they of course got corny with that disco song which became their anthem of sorts, I get bothered with things like this
NHL Draft is next week (June 21-22) with Hughes/Kakko being the big question on his is going #1. With the fact that the top two picks belong to New Jersey and NY Rangers that will be a rivalry to come for years between those two players. Hughes is still considered the top prospect in the draft but Kakko opened many eyes at the Worlds and is already playing against adults in Finland and putting up better numbers at his age than Laine and Barkov
Then roughly 10 days after the draft is free agency with some big names: Karlsson, Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene, Pavelski to name a few. Some players are already off the board with Jeff Skinner re-signing with the Sabres and Brock Nelson with the Islanders. There are also rumors of some players on the trade block like Kessel, Taylor Hall, Zaitsev

As I get older, I am getting less and less pleasure from seeing people I despise lose, but indeed this bruins loss respected the correct order of things.
Nice to see also two teams that haven't really gotten to the top due to tanking and getting high draft picks.

Agreed Rez ^
Very happy to see the Blues win it.

One of the best things in sports is seeing Bruins lose, losing a game 7 final at home is even better

|Reza||Existence of KHL is also a factor in lowering some of those numbers.|

Slovakia is going down year by year, Switzerland has pretty much surpassed them as they de facto #7 hockey nation in the world both in terms of player development and national team performances. Switzerland also recently had a #1 pick overall. Looking at recent drafts, there are years Slovakia didn't even have a player selected Erik Cernak and Marko Dano are their highest selected players last 4-5 years, basically bottom tier NHL guys. Only other surprise is no Belarus but they too are on the decline
Stanley Cup is tied at 1:1 after the first two games, Bruins came from behind in Game 1 while the Blues won in OT, good series so far, very physical with big hitting

|Dmitriy||Russia's current 39 > most of those 3rd-4th line American hacks.|

So Bruins-Hurricanes is the Eastern Conference final, Bruins won Game 6 in Columbus, Rask at times saved the Bruins but Boston scored two quick goals in the 3rd period which killed the game off
Funnily enough two of the three times the Hurricanes played the Bruins this season they played with Hartford Whalers uniforms, that will now change Also Don Cherry and the Hurricanes are having this silly feud now

|camelface||it's awesome to see the canes led by Brind'Amour again now as a coach (he easily deserved Conn Smythe in 2006)|

|HajdukSplit||Carolina sweep the Islanders and make the ECF, credit to them as they suffered many injuries during the series and were coming off a 7 game series against the Caps (though I don't think the long layoff helped the Islanders either). Not sure however how long they can carry with McElhinney in goal, though I think Mrazek should be ready by the next round especially as BOS-CBJ will last at least another 2 games|

Halfway to that dream matchup Bettman and the NHL wants...Columbus vs. Carolina, but they will spin it as their expansion methods working The Isles-Canes series is tough to watch, both teams play ultra defensive and the refereeing has been inconsistent
Boston could see Marchand suspended as he punched a CBJ defenseman in the back of the head
Out west, SJ up 2:1 as well as STL

Makes sense. Another round, less games, less refs.
I can’t wait for the Sharks Avs series. Colorado’s speed has me worried. They are a very fast team and the Sharks are known to be a slower team but with way more talent. Biggest player worries are Duchene and McKinnon. They are very good and get their shots off quick. Landis is a grinder for sure. Sharks are keeping the Pavelski injury on the DL. I suspect he’ll be out this round. Plus Colorado has rest on their side. Hopefully they’ll be rusty. I still think San Jose takes it, especially having home ice advantage.
San Jose in 6.
