I would hardly call our midfield very strong, its super mediciocre and more of the quantity variety, even if experienced. Hopefully Khedira is gone soon, and Matuidi is moved on quick quick for space, because I struggle to see him adapt to Sarri's possession footie.
The difference is that all those guys you (and other posters here) don't rate I think are absolutely fantastic two-way midfielders -- Emre Can, Matuidi, Khedira I think are fantastic, often extremely underrated players. It's no coincidence the teams and NT they play for consistently do very well and managers love them. Whether Sarri will like them, or if they'll be a good fit for his extremely stubborn ideas of how a midfield should work, I'm sure is a different issue.

Other than that, Pjanic is an excellent player, Betancur seems like a talented young midfielder, and of course you have lots of talent on the wings if for some reasons Sarri wants to mix it up (lol), and Dybala.

Rabiot I think will be more of a pure anchor CM, and Ramsey will above all be an offensive contribution, but both will be plenty useful and can do more than that if needed.

Ultimately you guys are very hard to please with these things. That midfield you have is only "mediocre" for spoiled Juve fans. IMO with those additions that midfield is on par with the very best in Europe.

van Great player, him and Ramsey for free should be excellent additions who'll give an already very strong midfield (IMO) lots of quality options, both defensively and offensively. The money does sound astronomical even for a freebie.

Osman This old lady cant resist freebies, kid is clearly bit of a cvnt, with his mother agent and general diva attitude past year. But also clearly a quality option to have. He admitted himself he is negotiating with Juventus. Latest reliable rumour is 10m bonus for him, and 7m per year until 2024. Would instantly become 2nd best CM in the team most likely (I say this because I dont expect Ramsey to be at full strength injury free most seasons).

Osman Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi: "The deal with Juventus (for Hamed junior Traore) is in the pipeline, theres just the signatures missing but everything is defined."

Promising raw talented teenage midfielder, was about to be signed by Viola, but they changed owners and deal didnt happen so we pounced quickly. We will probably loan him to Sassuolo to facilitate a Demiral signing.

Also its basically official now that Romero will stay with Genoa in loan. Pretty much like what we did with Caldara with Atalanta.

camelface Juve has always had a strong contingent which has also served as its stable leadership core in years and decades past. That would be a tradition worth continuing, unless marrotta can beat you to it at inter (less of a club mentality for doing this though).

dpforever10 I've always thought that Romagnoli was over-rated... even prefer Manolas at almost half the price..

Osman Milan missed CL so we should tempt them with a bid for Romagnoli, they will be needing the funds if FFP keep pestering them.

Osman Even Abu took holiday from thread starting since season ended weeks ago for us.

And yeah Rugani has no business starting, we will buy couple more CBs, and Rugani should be last choice.

camelface There's no match thread for today's match. I'll post here then that rugani is not a good defender unfortunately. He should be nowhere near the starting lineup of the national team.
May 13th, 2019 01:05
Stephan Perhaps we could sell Rugani to Roma then.
May 12th, 2019 06:24
dpforever10 I was a staunch defender of Rugani before but almost everytime he was given a chance due to injuries to other defenders he failed to impress... maybe he needs a continued run in the team to really prove himself but I would feel more comfortable if we bought another defender in the summer, someone like Manolas would be great
May 12th, 2019 06:12
CUG Thought benetia was actually good for us. One of our better defenders.

We have left it late for rejuvenated our defense. Bonucci coming back wasn't a great decision. We left rugani on bench too long in previous seasons...We did get an offer from Chelsea last summer but didn't let him go.

Chiellini is getting on in age. Sad thing is we read rumours of sandro and cancelo being in the mix to leave. Id be focusing on central defense and midfield this summer. Our full back options and final third options are actually fine.
May 5th, 2019 11:45
Nero I'm sure we'll sell Rugani if we get a good offer, but where would that come from? He's been average at best.

We need better options in defence, this is something that Paratici must already see and address this summer.

We haven't had a hit in central defence for a while now, bringing back Bonucci was questionable at best, Rugani and Benatia both disappointed.

I think we need to go out, open the cheque book and buy a top player like we did to improve the fullbacks with Alex Sandro and Cancelo.

Osman Roma sell such players, dont buy them, so I doubt thats an option for him. Unless Qatar PSG owners buy them as its rumoured.
May 2nd, 2019 00:00
Stephan I wonder if the club still has faith in Rugani. Or if the right offer comes ship out. We are stuck with Bonucci cause he cant leave Italy. Unless we manage to sell him to another big italian club.

Fed up with both now. Rugani hasnt grown enough despite having opportunities now and Bonucci always comes with his bs. Im done with it.

Most likely is that we sign Manolas and that kid from Genoa.

For Varane is not playing time, it's been indication he wants to move on elsewhere for unknown reason, Zidane even addressed it as soon as he came back, saying he will talk to him and want to keep him.

If we buy Manolas and Roma qualify for CL they can buy Romagnoli back. I dont think his rep is that big outside Italy. If Milan dont make CL they have to sell some players and Romagnoli would potentially prefer staying in Italy. My point is simply that if we buy Manolas Roma has a huge gap to fill but money and CL football to bring Romagnoli back. There are some reports from journalist sources i trust that Conte is going to Roma and that is also smth which could influence this. I dont think Conte will work with scrubs in defense.
May 1st, 2019 13:30
camelface Yes, getting more defenders may be needed, especially with possible return of conte!
