Ronaldwho? Wait, what?

I must have forgotten there are too many white players in the (R)PL.

Engin_10 British players are massively over-hyped by those British pundits in the Racist Premier League.

red The funniest thing is that this muppet costs 15 million more than De Ligt.

I would take a drunk, disabled Manolas over Maguire...

Ronaldwho? I didn't say I agree with the fee, I'm pointing out why he was so expensive.

We need a leader and he's captain material. I can't see him posting videos of his hotel room on Twitter, either.

With the Rio comparison, he's the best English center back at this moment.

Osman Rio was a wonderkid and a top level defender since he got regular playing time in Leeds. Pretty much destined for the level of career he had.

Maguire is Acerbi level small time CB. Its insane you actually think this fee is justifiable. He is a slow and mediocre and basically everything except heading.

If you think travesty of deals like this gets you closer to CL qualification, what a laugh.

Los Che Forever Tbf everyone knew about Ferdinand and his potential when Leeds bought him let alone when you lot did.

Maguire hasn't really shown anything to me to suggest he'll turn into a great defender.

You are silly. Of course the fact England did so well at the WC and Maguire was a big part of that will factor in his transfer fee. How could it not?

How much did you know of Ferdinand before we signed him? He was amazing for us but we didn't know that when we smashed all records for him. You probably made a post on some ancient message board about it, mocking us.

Ronaldwho? Also a mid table team in the Premier League isn't like a mid table team in other leagues. Every single game is a battle, not just 4-6 important games a season like Spain and even less in Italy.

Villa (came up through play offs) would most likely beat Atalanta.

They're overpaying for him because he's English, i understand that. It's a bad deal, but it's not the first bad deal, almost every English player who's been sold has been very overpriced for the quality.

Ronaldwho? He's a World Cup semi finalist. The team he's at now won the league a few seasons ago.

He also knows the league, unlike Manolas, who is shit.

We are Manchester United, if we want a player we get our pants pulled down. A bit like when you paid 100m to get Ronaldo when no one else was even interested.

I agree it's an over pay but English players are expensive. We paid 30m 18 years ago for Rio and he didn't get near a World Cup semi final.

Osman Still baffling, he is a supremely average CB who is just a good heading specialist. Playing in mid table team, in what world should you feel its urgent to spend record fee on bim? Do they know theres this thing called negotiation?

Manolas is superior top defender and he went for 36m to Napoli. The market is there for quality CBs, it's not either record sum or nothing.

Los Che Forever It's with clauses. 60m+20m.

Even still.

If Rabiot's signing on fee was 10m, then that means we need to sell in excess of 10m to make a profit. With Barella, that means you need to sell him in excess of 50m to turn a profit on him.

Of course, the wages are another factor but that's part of the calculation in terms of your operating expenses.

I do think it's peculiar to trumpet a Bosman signing as a masterstroke when you obviously have to pay them a long more in wages to get a deal done. We're probably paying Rabiot,
But, as we all know, wages and transfer fees still come out of the same revenue streams.

It is a fair point about the re-sale profit margin on Bosmans, even though I doubt Ramsey will be worth a huge amount in a few years. Khedira certainly isn't. Rabiot is a different story, obviously, and could be worth a ton. Who knows....

Inter have a decent chance of making 30 or 40 million profit on Barella - including the outlay on his wages - in a couple of years if he fulfills his potential and wants to leave. Or he could be another Joao Mario, even though I highly doubt it.

Look, Rabiot and Ramsey are exceptional deals, but Bosmans are simply a case of partial transfer fee equalization (or replacement) through wages and signing-on fees. It is more like getting a player for a very cheap transfer fee than getting a player "for free", which is just a ridiculous idea.
