Hitting the crossbar

Have any of you guys played the game where you try and hit the cross bar from the penalty spot ten times?

How well have you done? Highest amount of hits in a row?

Got ten out of 23 I think it was yesterday, got 4 in a row but then lost the plot. Best I've done in a while.

are you hitting it with the ball, or your head?

If I miss with the ball, then I use my head.

The team I coach were doing a bit before our practice, and one of the other coaches was all "yeah watch this", and nearly hits the corner flag. I strolled up notchantly from 30 yards, and floated the ball onto the bar. Didn't take anymore. Quit while I was ahead.

Actually, I did that once. I don't know if this is universal, but in Norway the crossbar thing is used all the time to pick a loser, say who's going to keep goal. So everyone aims for it, whoever is the highest wins and whoever goes over the bar loses. And that I was never good at.

But I've always enjoyed practicing free kicks. And many years ago I was playing with my brother and I noticed that for some reason I was hitting the bar a lot. So instead of scoring I made it my goal to hit the crossbar everytime. And I think I got something like 16 hits in a row, from various distances. But it's one of those freak things, I doubt I could ever reproduce it.

La Juve? Lasciamo perdere.

In England we play barsy, where you stand either side of the crossbar, are allowed only two touches (one control, one shot) to hit the bar. First to ten wins, its well good.

Before games we like to do that. I do these sort of "games" all the times... even at home. I say "I have to place the ball between the couch and the wall... with a space of max 20 CM wide... I got pretty good at it too.

We never had any number of touches rule, while the balls on your side you can do what you want with it, for as long as you want, was a great game especially if there was quite a few playing. Been years since I last played it though.

It gets too easy if you have a lot of touches. Its better when you can be tactical, like hitting the ball far so the opponent cannot get a decent shot, allowing you an easier shot on the followup.

Ugh i felt soo bad, i went to Romania to my new club, at 1am I went on the pitch with the director who goes out there to shoot against the cross bar often..

He got 10/10 from the spot.. i got 3/10

But then 1v1 came, and falling was the new defending :P

this game is fun with a few people...ofcourse we do it after we have warmed up and done some stretches as it would be mindless to do it as soon as you enter the pitch. We put the ball at the halfway point and from there we shoot (more like sweep cross) at the bar. I think it is more difficult but a lot more fun.

It's a good game.

In my training we also see who can curve the ball into the goal from behind the touchline. We try from from different distances, the further away from the goal the easier. You have to put some wicked spin to get it in from close distance.

We also play to see who can hit the net on the fly and see how far back you can go and still strike a ball into the goal hitting the net first. good to see who has power and accuracy.

Visca Barca!!

We call it crossbar challenge because of soccer am. I've lost like 5 pounds worth of 50ps and earned about 1.
