mine was when i was playing as a gk (i'm a striker btw), we was playing in a 5 x 5 indoor stadium, the other GK played the ball high towards my goal, i thought why should i handle it with my hands while i can just shoot it with my right foot?

i shot it with the outside of my right foot, then the ball swerved into my net

Mine was similar....but I slipped and couldn't even kick, and it went underneath me and in the goal

It was a mud bog of a pitch, right when we were having a huge down pour of rain. IIRC we were playing against Adelaide Olympic. 2-2 going into the last five minutes and they had a corner. It's floated and there's a goal mouth scramble. One of the Oly players takes a swing but it goes straight into one of us. It spills to me and I go to hack it clear, but I slipped on the mud and ended up effectively bicycle kicking the ball into our own net, and we lost 3-2.

It was 2-3 we were down the ball came in the box past the goalie just me and the open goal and I smack the bar. Since then I have been cautious not to rush the shots when I am alone.

When playing 5 a side the goalkeeper came right to the edge of the d and when i rounded him i hit the cross bar i was well gutted. Something similar to Ronnie Rosenthal v Aston Villa

I was a defender, I was the last player before the goalie and I had the ball and the striker of rivals was attacking me. I was in panic for some seconds and I kicked the ball very strong and I lobed our goalkeeper

It really wasn't anything spectacular. It was really just me falling on my back in the mud and the ball rolling as fast as a snail into the net.

No excuses of mudddy boggy pitches for me...my excuse was just a young lad, only about 11 at the time, ans somehow I managed to lob my own teams keeper, who was not much short of 7 foot when he was 11. It seemed lobbing him was impossible, but I somehow managed when I tried to kick the ball oout for a thrown, I spooned it up in the air, and it dropeed over the keepers head and into the net, it made the score 2-1 to the opposition as well, I was seriously gutted

lol.. the best happened to this friend of mine.. in basketball that is..we were like in grade 7, and we were havin basketball matches.. our team was losin badly.... and the other team lost the ball, (out of bounds).. so i pass it to my friend full of frustration... and the ball was on our side of the court... lol... instead of takin it forward, he went and shot a 3 pt swish (none of our shots were goin in) into out own basket!!!! it was a real riot!!!! we were laughin like crazy.. the ref didnt know what to do as such a thing never happens, so he awarded the points to the captain of the opposing team!!

No, they got a 3rd soon after, everyone's head had dropped...I wanted to bury mine in the ground, it finished 3-1.

That season my team had a habit of scoring own goals, one player scored 6 of them in that one season...anyone would have thought we didn't want too win

I was goalkeeper of our school class at the annual tourney. Our team was far superior to all our opponents. When we were leading 5:0 or something like that in the final game I was talking with our subs which were seated behind the goal. The opponent's striker converted a kick-off into my net directly following our 5th goal when he saw my little spell of disconcentration . We won 7:1 or something like that. It must have been my lone goal against the whole afternoon..... It still wasn't the best of moments to live through

Cheers
East Ender

PS A thing that really haunts me is that I've never been able to score a goal with a header. I usually play with some colleagues on schoolyards on Sunday afternoons and they happen to deliver crosses onto my head but I simply can't get that bloody ball into the net - I'm wearing glasses during play....

Drifting in memories I remember another real big miss of a chap playing against me as a goalkeeper (again...)

It was the game for 3rd place at our grammar school's football tourney. I was in goal - our team playing far superior (again, that's why they always could afford me as a goalie). Having a comfortable lead one of the opposing chaps went through with his counter attack. None of my fellows followed him. He came towards me. I rushed out of the goal, stumbled and and lay flat some 15 meters in front of my own goal. I could turn on the floor and saw what happened next. The attacking guy had the ball easily rolling towards the goal waited until the ball was right in the middle, five meters in front of the empty net. He shot and really sent it about two meters wide from the right post. I couldn't help but laugh at this guy and cover him with some thrash talk the rest of my grammar school career

Cheers
