What Can I do?

Well it's starting to get cold here now! (5-10 C) And the problem is very soon it will start snowing and I won't be able to play soccer outdoors. Now, I need to get ready for my High-School Senior team tryouts, but the problem is I don't know how I'm going to get ready? what should I do? I don't think playing Indoor soccer once a week is going to help that much so what do I do? Any suggestions?

Running in the snow, where loads of layers and aim to do a long run, that will definitely help you with Stamina.

Football-wise that will be tough, try and play as much indoor Football as you can I'm guessing/.

Yeah, indoor football is vital to keep you sharp.

Run lots, stay fit, and wait it out.

If possible, find a futsal league and play in it. Futsal is the next best thing to football as there are outs and it's sometimes played on a turf pitch, so it's the best thing to keep you fit and sharp.

If that doesn't work, go to your local gym and just bang the ball off a wall, just touch the ball lots every day and don't only keep from losing skill, gain it by extensive indoor work.

Despite the urge there will be to not go running due to the cold weather and just lift weights, don't do this.

If you only lift weights, you'll gain weight and lose speed. If you run and lift weights it's alright, but if all you do is lift weights you'll become slow.

Lifting weights is not always about putting on weight. It depends on intensity, number of sets, etc. etc...... p

You cannot run fast if you dont have muscles. Football is a sprint-jog-sprint game. You must have big leg muscles. This only comes from weight training. I can write up a weight training for football post if people are interested. I will post on my website if there is interest

Skills wise, yes try to play indoor football. You should allready have a weight training program. If you dont, you are not at the best you could be at.

What exactly is wrong with playing in snow? Just get yourself an orange ball and wear gloves you sissy. After a minute you won't feel the cold anyway.

how much snow do you get in Glasgow? i know in Canada we get snow up to your knees which doesn't make it too fun playing. -20 degrees celsuis weather wearing football boots with snow up to your knees makes for frost bites and amputations, sissy.

Hey polaris could you send me the link for your weight training program. Its almost winter here and tryouts are in summer. I'm about to turn 16 and be a senior(yea I'm young), so I need to step up a level in my play. Thanks.

Im in agreeance with the statment that you have to have all of your limbs intact to go pro.

Back to the topic, I would definatly play indoor soccer. Also if there is not much or any snow on the ground then I would bundle up and play outdoors. Weight training is good but remember to keep up your cardio workout, running, so that you will not only bulk up, but you wont slow down in the process. Just keep your skills sharp and you should be fine.
