Best football out right now is the Nike Aerow. It's absolutely superb. Lasts long, hits incredibly.

Next best, in my opinion, is the Puma dimple ball. I don't know the name, but it's the MLS ball. It hits as well as any ball out there, but loses points to Nike by having dimples. It flies very true.

Over-r.a.t.e.d crap - AKA the Euro2004 ball. Floats, is too light, hard to get good crosses, free kicks, or long range shots off.

The Adidas Champions League ball is class. Hits very well. A little light, but an excellent ball.

Unde - r.a.t.e.d. is Select balls. You can hit a ball very well with them, durable enough, and reasonable prices.

Positive. Those players need to quit whining. I'm sure the European players would have lo.ved to have had it at Euro. They couldn't hardly get a good cross in because of the beach-ball they ended up playing with. Aerow always does excellent when I use it.

A good player doesn't blame his sucking on the ball. The Euro ball is good just takes longer to learn to control. It is great for hitting long shots seeing as how it is light..... Brine makes some good balls, very solid, long lasting and great for striking. The Champ's league ball is decent flys well. I have never been to terribly impressed with Nike balls. Even when my team was Nike sponsored I d the balls they gave us, hardly ever used it. I have not had the chance to hit the Aerow yet, supposidly it is one of the best balls, we will see, Nike balls tend to suck.....The dimple ball form Puma is a cool concept but seeing as how I have not hit that one yet either I could not tell you how well the dimples effect the flight if at all.

What it basically comes down to it personal preferance. I have a few favorite balls but I am always open to using new ones.

If I had to chosse one brand that I would rate the "best" it would have to be Brine.

Maybe if you're trying to lob the goalkeeper from 60 yards is the Euro ball good for hitting, but if you're trying to a) cross, b) shoot, or c) play football, it's not good.

You say that it is hard to play with, a good player doesn't blame the ball. If the ball is differant then you need to learn to play with it so it doesn't effect you. You, if you are a good player that is, should adjust to the ball in order it make it so it doesn't effect your game. Saying that the ball is too light is just and excuse for a screw up. If you know the ball tends to float then put it lower to the ground when you hit it, simply adjust to make it feel normal for you. This talk about how it is no good to play football with is rubbish, it obviously is because a) it is FIFA Approved and b) It is the ball that they used for Euro. Obviously the wouldn't give them a second rate ball.

Balls don't make any difference at all. As long as it's not flat, and not too hard, then the ball is perfect.

That is also not true. If a ball is a total piece but it is inflated right then according to you it is perfect....that is far from the truth. A ball needs to be quality as well as properly inflated to be dubbed a good ball.

Prem, aren't you contradicting yourself?

And by the way, just beause FIFA approved a ball doesn't make it a good ball FIFA is only interested in the money, since when is FIFA acting in the best interest of the game?

Craig, what the heck are you going on about? So a ball has to be good to be played with, but you should learn to play with crappy balls? I am really confused. Lay off the waccy tabaccy Craig...

Also, what Barca said is totally true. FIFA was never going to turn away the beach ball Adidas sent them. It's about money, not quality of footballs anymore...

I don't like the new Nike Aerow. You can really ping the thing but it bounces ridiculously high and it doesn't really fly straight...if you hit it right you can get it to "corkscrew" or make all kinds of stange shapes in the air. The vapour was a better ball IMO.

What I am saying is that if you have a ball that totally sucks, i.e. missing panels or stiching is coming off then even if it is inflated right, it will suck. Yes Fifa is greatly influenced by money but they have some pride, they wont approve some crappy Franklin ball.

Then you suck at football if you need a brand ball that has fancy crap on it.

A good player only needs a round ball with the proper inflation and everything intact...

One of my favourite balls is the Adidas Gamarada. IMO it's a very good weight; not too heavy, not too light, so it's good for hitting long shots without the ball floating too much.

It's a pity Adidas changed their focus from making well weighted balls to using revolutionary new materials that are usually too light, then trying to cover up the poor quality of the ball by getting David Beckham to say that it's the most accurate ball he's ever kicked, only to embarass himself and Adidas by making two terrible blunders in the tournament
