18 yard + shots

Ive been working on this for a while, shots like Steven Gerrard vs Manchester United, Kaka this season, and generally those really long strong shots. Any tips? I'm wondering how to strike the ball to maximize, how much to follow through, the run in, and the body position.. anyone know good tips? btw, i mean on the run, not on a dead ball situation, which is probably harder to bang straight in.

Its all about Technique

Get Totti/Recoba vids and study their technique
Recoba has his own style
But Totti's is as close to Text book perfect as you can get

i don't really know any advanced tips just the basics.

when going for low shots keep your shoulder on top of the ball and your supporting leg parallel do the ball.

for high shots, supporting foot behind the ball and lean a bit back but not too much otherwise it go in 2 the stands.

btw to shoot like what u said, how can i stop my shots from curving ? like make the shot go staright (like how reyes scored against chelsea)

To get more power ALWAYS follow through. There's a technique to use when following through. It's hard to explain, but I'll try. You sort of have to jump off the foot you kicked by following through. Then you land on the foot you kicked with and then the other foot.

Not really. Just go outside and practice. Discovering things on your own is the best way.

Well trust me i can, Im about 5 foot 9, im very fast, dont have that much stamina, i have a fit body, Good in tackles and shoertpasses, and long passes, but i CANT strike the ball from a distance, Im pretty good 1 on one, but if only i can shoot from far, practice hasnt changed it much, theres only a slight improvement, i dont understand, my crosses are really good, but shooting aint good at all, I really need a book.

Very fit but little stamina? does that make sense?

Sazon, i know what you mean, tyring to do that will be harder though. Beckham does it when he takes his free kicks no?

I'll take this outside. Thanks a lot.

Just keep practicing. Make sure you hit the ball down the center and follow through. Tyr hitting it from 18 yards, then 20, then 22, etc.

Try and use the same form everytime. Good luck!

Yes it has to be perfect technique(Well close to)

All in one movement and convert your body wieght into the power of the shot
I reccomend Totti as a great player to study because he hits the ball as clean as any player

Some people have natural power
and some people have great technique so they make power like Del Piero

But if you have natural power with great shooting technique you can be amazing from long range e.g Adriano Seedorf Totti Recoba..
Obviously you have to train your accuracy too

But Technique is the most important part

Videos obviously

Download some Totti/Roma clips
Recoba is also a excellent player to study long shooting as his left foot is like a wand

i'm a bit primitive on aiming, what are some good tips for aiming long range? i can hit on target but say asking me to hit top corner left or right shot after shot is a bit of a stretch for me.

anyone? thanks

Basically look up at the spot you want to aim at then shoot
When your foot follows through the ball it should be pointing towards the target

Thats not easy and its takes alot of practice
But make the goalkeeper work!
Thats very important because a rebound can land to a teammate for a easy goal

No other way besides practice. After maybe two thousand shots, you'll be able to hit either post or the crossbar whenever you want.
