She was named the first-ever African Women's Footballer of the Year after her six goals in the African championship in South Africa last year.

BEST GOAL OF THE YEAR - Thabo Mngomeni (South Africa)
BEST SAVE OF THE YEAR - Khalid Fouhami (Morocco)
AFRICAN TEAM OF THE YEAR - Cameeroon's Olympic team
AFRICAN TEAM OF THE CENTURY - Cameroon
WOMEN'S FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR - Mercy Akide (Nigeria)
CAF CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - Hossam Hassan (Egypt)
In addition to the BEST AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR
2000 award which went to Patrick Mboma of Cameroon
AFRICAN SPECIAL RECOGNISITION AWARD - Somalia
