Women in mens sport

Seeing womens football do so well in recent years reminded me of something strange a few years ago.

Perugia, a football club in the Italian Serie A wanted to sign a female football player. They were heavily criticized, because the president allegedly made sexist comments and many viewed it as a PR stunt.

But that got me thinking, are there any explicit prohibitions against a woman playing on a professional team of 10 other men, or is it just tradition to segregate them?

I think with the number of women out there, there is probably a few who can eclipse men with their ability. Aside from the obvious- challenges in the changing room, communication and personality conflicts, etc, what's stopping this from happening?

Was McFail.

But wishing I was Fankoush.

We discussed this topic six years ago. I'm not sure it went anywhere useful, however.
