UEFA U-19 Championship 2008

France will be the host for the final tournament, July 7-19, 2008.

The Group draw has been made for the first qualifying round.

Teams in each group will meet in a single round-robin tournament Sept 26 - Oct 2, 2007. The top two teams from each group go into the second qualifying round April 24-29, 2008, along with the two third-place finishers with the best record against the leading pair in their group.

Me, too. They went all the way to the final against Germany last time, and hopefuly they can do even better in 2008.

The final group tournament goes July 7-19 in France (in the towns of Amboise, Avoine, Blois, Romorantin, Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, Tours and Vineuil).

Group A: France, Spain, Italy, Norway
Group B: Sweden, Scotland, Germany, England

July 16: Semifinals

July 19: Final at Tours

July 7 results:

Italy 1-0 Norway
France 1-0 Spain
Sweden 2-1 Scotland
Germany 2-0 England

July 10 results:

Spain 1-2 Norway
France 1-3 Italy
Sweden 1-1 Germany
Scotland 1-3 England

Spain and Scotland are now mathematically eliminated.
Italy leads the pack with 6 points.

July 13 results:

England 1-1 Sweden
Scotland 0-7 Germany
Norway 1-1 France
Spain 3-0 Italy

July 16 Semifinals:

Italy 4-0 Sweden
Germany 1-1 Norway (Norway advances on penalties)

There will be no Germany "three-peat", as Norway defeated them in the semifinal on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw.

Norway will now meet surprising powerhouse Italy in the July 19 final. Italy bombed Sweden 4-0 in the other semi, after beating Norway and France in the group round.

Italy completed their amazing assault on the U-20 title by beating Norway 1-0 in the Final, just as they had done on the first day of group play.

Congratulations to the Azzurine! Last year they didn't even make it to the final eight.
