National Team of Sweden
Born: April 5, 1973
Sweden's Malin Andersson represented Sweden at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. Tall, strong, fast and skillful, she is the kind of athlete that every team wants in the middle of the field. Great in the air, the sometimes-captain of Sweden often dominated the game.
She helped Sweden to a silver medal at the 1995 European Women's Championships and then played a major role as her country hosted the 2nd Women's World Cup. At the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup in Sweden, she scored two goals against Germany in an historic first-round match. She pulled the first goal back and then capped a stunning comeback from a 2-0 deficit with the winning goal in the 86th minute, turning the game into a 3-2 victory and keeping her team alive for a second-round berth. She also played in all three games at the 1996 Olympics, although Sweden failed to advance.
