Its a pretty new tounament, at least since Norway started to paricipate, and it is not a big tournament in my view. It is just a warm up tournament before the big games .A nice oppurtinity to play new players.

Actually, the Algarve Cup has been held annually since 1994 (when Norway won). It is the oldest annual international women's soccer tournament.

It attracts the best women's national teams in the world.

In years when there is no Olympics or Women's World Cup, the Algarve is considered to be the most important and prestigious tournament of the year in Women's soccer.

Ok I am sorry then , I am just uninformed I guess. But actually I have watched many games here in Norway, and the quality is pretty good, altough Norway had a better team a few years ago..

Yes, not so long ago Norway used to be the best in the world.

In recent years they have been eclipsed by Germany and the USA.

Yeah, but we still have some good players though. Solveig Guldbrandsen is a very good player. I do not know if you followed the professional womens league in trh States, but she played pretty well there. I cannot remember the name of the league..At least according to the norwegian press.

But it was too bad it got closed down, the females need a proffesional league of their own.

Germany and USA have gotten some really good players lately, and even Brazil and Sweden I think have a better team than the norwgians at the moment. Martha is a great player, along with players like Birgit Prinz and Ljungberg and Svensson in the swedish NT. The americans have Amy Wambach (is that her correct name?) and I think they will have a hard time replacing the players that are leaving, the socalled "golden generaton" with Mia Hamm as the finest player of them.

Germany has broken the USA's winning streak by the narrowest of margins.

The Americans, who have won the last three Algarve Cups, lost to Germany today in the First Place match on a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw.

Complete results updated above.
