Japan-Australia-South Korea tournament

Japan beats South Korea in opener of women's World Cup soccer warmup

SENDAI, Japan (AP) - Substitute Eriko Arakawa scored twice in the second half Tuesday [July 22] as Japan crushed South Korea 5-0 to in a tuneup for the women's World Cup soccer tournament.

Arakawa beat South Korea goalkeeper Jung Ho-jung in the 71st minute and scored another in the 83rd minute. Aya Miyama, Mio Otani and Tomomi Miyamoto also scored for Japan.

In the three-team tournament, South Korea plays Australia on Friday, and Japan will face Australia on Sunday.
