CAN 2012: Players

Feel free to move this topic but I couldn't find a proper place.

Does anyone know where to find a complete list of all players participating and their current clubs?

On the official website only the group A and B players for some reason.
http://www.cafonline.com/competition...ons_2012/teams

Couldn't find it somewhere else.

In terms of "lesser" known players, I liked Kalaba from Zambia. He currently plays at Mazembe but had unsuccessful spell in Europe (Sporting Braga)

some other players which have looked good at this tournament:

- Youssef Mskani (Tunisia; Esperance)
- Mohamed Ahmed Bashir (Sudan; Al-Hilal)
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon; St. Etienne)

Mostly attacking players, hard to judge defenders in this tournament

The current top scorers after the group stage are all on three goals: Aubemeyang (Gabon), Kharja (Morocco), Manucho (Angola)

I really like the look of Youssef Msakni. Came off the bench against Morocco, and has kept his place since.

All the keepers are shocking, but the Libyan keeper takes the cake. alm:

Msakni is incredible. He has made North Africa and Tunisia proud, not only that but he also has the potential to become one of the greatest African playmaker in recent decades.

There was a seven-way tie for the top scorer with only 3 goals, but Emmanuel Mayuka got the trophy as the tie-breaker were assists. Here were the top goalscorers

Emmanuel Mayuka, Christopher Katongo (Zambia), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Cheick Diabate (Mali), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon), Houssine Kharja (Morocco), Manucho (Angola)

Zambia strike hero targeted by Premier League trio
by Warren Haughton in talkSPORT
Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka has issued a come-and-get-me plea to the Premier League - with Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham all monitoring his progress.

The Young Boys hitman played a major part in the Copper Bullets winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history earlier this month and is seen as one African football’s hottest prospects.

Mayuka, who joined Young Boys from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2010, is the Swiss side's top scorer this season having netted six times.

But the 21-year-old now wants to make the move to one of Europe’s top leagues, with the Premier League his preferred destination.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham have already showed an interest in the 21-year-old, but the English trio face a fight on their hands with a number of other European sides weighing up moves.

Mayuka's agent James Barrett told talkSPORT: "There has been interest shown from Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham. Emmanuel wants to play in the Premier League, which he feels is the best in the world, but there is more concrete interest from other European clubs."

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

Asamoah Gyan retires from Ghana for an indefinate period. He took a lot of heat from the fans after missing the penalty against Zambia and he didn't even return to Ghana with the team, he flew straight to UAE

Despite his penalty misses, this is a huge hit for Ghana, losing both KPB and Gyan. They don't have an internationally proven striker (at least European based) on their squad. Tagoe stinks, Adiyiah hasn't developed, Amoah is getting older...
