ANC 2010: FINAL - Ghana vs Egypt; Luanda, 31.01.2010, 17:00 CET

AFRICAN NATIONS CUP - ANGOLA 2010

FINAL

Sunday, 31.01.2010, 17:00 CET
Luanda

GHANA vs EGYPT

Egypt are obviously favourites but it will be curious to see what happens if Ghana opens the score.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been watching the ANC non-stop since about 2000 and this was by far the poorest of all its editions. Maybe the new format of playing it in a World Cup year just a few months before the most important tournament in world football was really not the best move by CAF/FIFA.

One to forget for sure.

Started disastrously with the Togolese tragedy then just continued sh*t.

Poor officiating, more from the linesman than anything, never seen so many wrong calls made regarding offside calls, poor attendances in the matches by and large and the overall play has been disappointing.

Does anyone know what the likely teams will be?

Ours:

Essam El Hadary in goal

Hany Said, Abdel Zaher El Saka (in for the suspended Fathalla) and Wael Gom'a in defence

Sayed Mo'awad and Ahmed El Mohamady the 2 wingbacks

Ahmed Hassan (c.) , Honsy Abd Rabo and Ahmed Fathy in midfield

Zidan and Meteb/Gedo upfront (depending on Meteb's fitness)

Nigeria beat Algeria 1-0 yesterday and got 3rd place. Obinna scored the only goal.

El Saka will be a solid back up for Egypt if he continues to play well as he does for Eskişehir.

surprise surprise yet another crap match...

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Ghana 0-0 Egypt at HT

As expected a cagey first half with Ghana giving very little space for Egypt to create anything. Egypt's best "chance" came from a freekick which saw their captain Ahmed Hassan diving to the ball like a dead trout, managing still to touch it with his hand. The ref has been very friendly towards the current champions as every divided situation goes their way. I still think that if Ghana scores first they'll win this.

1-0 to Egypt by Gedo at 85', most probably the winner. Ghana were better in most of this second half but it's the Germans of Africa that will probably win this one again.

the best team in Africa celebrates again...congrats

Too bad we don't see them in World Cup, they could have achieved something there.

Ghana lost despite being the better side, a great tournament for them over all given the fact that they didn't have their best players.

Good luck for them against the real Germans in world cup

Ghana 0-1 Egypt FT

Egypt are tri-champions of Africa. A poor final worthy of a poor tournament.

Congratulations to them that managed to keep their trophy in spite of the many injuries. Congratulations also to the young Ghanaian side that showed a lot of potential for future tournaments.

Great goal, worthy of winning any game. We haven't created much though, Kingston was a passenger today.

Zidan assisted the winner in 2008 and he repeats it 2 years later after linking up with Gedo.

Ghana had a bunch of half chances, but Hadary made like 1 save all match long.

A shame the best team of Africa will once again not be in the World Cup. Very strange really.

btw, funny how Ghana lost 1-0 when they're the experts of winning 1-0.

The team with the best attack, best defence and top scorer won the tournament.
