Its a "pro" only camp (excluding the keepers). The head coach wants to get a good look at all the possible players for the rest of the qualifiers. He had a "locals" only training camp at the beginning of the month first and Yacef took part in that. Now its turn for the European-based players.

PS. He tried to call up Karim Benzema (Lyon) and Samir Nasri (Marseille) but both turned him down.

Ndlovu recalled by Zimbabwe

Striker Peter Ndlovu has won a recall to Zimbabwe's national side months after doctors said a series of knee injuries would end his career. Ndlovu, 33, who plays in South Africa for champions Mamelodi Sundowns, has been named in his country's squad for a friendly against Namibia in Harare on Wednesday. At the start of the season, club officials said it was unlikely that Ndlovu, who also played in England for Coventry City, Sheffield United and Birmingham City, would make a recover sufficiently to play again. Zimbabwe have also called up Portsmouth forward Benjani Mwaruwari and Polish-born defender Dickson Choto for the match at the Rufaro stadium.

Update: Ghana vrs Australia

11/13/2006

Ghana completed over an hour's training session at the Queens Park Rangers’ Loftus Road stadium on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly with Australia. Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy and his backroom staff watched the players begin training at 18:40 GMT. The players started training by running around the pitch for ten minutes. After the low runs, Claude Le Roy gave out some instructions to his players before they started kicking the ball.

Ghana would be missing the central defensive pair of Shilla Illiasu and John Mensah. Shilla Illiasu became the second player to miss the game against the Australians through injury. John Mensah had pulled out of the game a week ago because of injury while playing for his club in a French Ligue 1 match. FC Copenhagen striker, Razak Pimpong, one of the players involved in last month's Asian conquest but missing from Claude Le Roy's original squad, has been called up into the Black Stars.

The fast running attacker trained with the rest of the Black Stars squad on Monday. The game would be the fourth international friendly for Ghana after the World Cup finals and the third for new Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy. Le Roy already has two Ghana victories under his belt.

Ghana after a second round exit from the World Cup in Germany have remained unbeaten in three international friendly matches. Ghana beat Togo 2-0 in September before completing a successful double over Asian giants, Japan and South Korea last month. The Black Stars beat Japan’s senior national side 1-0 in London and four days later went on to hand South Korea a 3-1 defeat in Seoul.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Australia coach, Graham Arnold would be looking for a substitutes due to major pull outs. Midfielders Tim Cahill and Josip Skoko, and defender Lucas Neill have pulled out of Tuesday's friendly against Ghana, Football Federation Australia (FFA) said in a statement on Monday. Cahill was stretchered off over the weekend in the English premiership. The Socceroos would also be without striker, Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell who are both injured. The friendly with the Socceroos forms part of Ghana’s build up towards the African Cup of Nations in two years time.

Ghana, by virtue of being host of the 2008 African Cup of Nations finals would not be playing any competitive match until January 2008, when the tournament kicks off in Accra. Kick off for Tuesday's international friendly is at 20:00 GMT.

Ghana squad:

Goalkeepers: Sammy Adjei (Mohadon Sports Ashdod, Israel), Richard Kingson (BB Ankaraspor, Turkey)

Defenders: Hans Adu Sarpie (VFL Wolfsburg, Germany), John Paintsil (West Ham, England), Francis Dickoh (FC Utrecht, Holland), Eric Addo (PSV Eindhoven, Holland) and Habib Mohammed (Molde FK, Norway)

Midfielders: Stephen Appiah (Fenerbache, Turkey), Michael Essien (Chelsea, England), Laryea Kingson (Locomitiv Moscow, Russia) Sulley Ali Muntari (Udinese, Italy) and Haminu Dramani (Genclerbirligi, Turkey)

Forwards: Junior Agogo (Nottingham Forest, England), Peter Ofori-Quaye (OFI Crete, Greece) Asamoah Gyan (Udinese, Italy) Razak Pimpong (FC Copenhagen) and Derek Asamoah (Shrewsbury, England)

Would it not be wiser to call up some local talent from Hearts of Oak or Ashanti (who both played in the group stages of the African CL) than to call up players in the 3rd and 4th division (Agogo & Asamoah) ???

Yeah, I would think it is better to give some local guys the chance to prove themselves, but I get the feeling they often choose 'foreigners' over locals because it has more international allure.

Shame btw that Hertha's Kevin-Prince Boateng does not want to play for Ghana. I've been very impressed by his performances in the Bundesliga.

Benzema's already been called up by Domenech for the Greece friendly tomorrow but injury has kept him out of the team but his decision has been made. As for Nasri, our coach talked to him and he said he's undecided still, so we'll have to wait and see what he decides. And, it looks like we lost Mohamed Chakouri (Montpellier) too, the only decent RB we have available. In the summer he said he would play for Algeria but he got called up by France's U21 team for a friendly against Sweden tomorrow.

Agogo gives Ghana 1-1 draw with Australia

LONDON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Nottingham Forest striker Junior Agogo cancelled out John Aloisi's first- half penalty for Ghana to draw 1-1 with Australia in a pulsating friendly in London on Tuesday. Agogo tapped in after 75 minutes at Queen's Park Rangers' Loftus Road stadium after Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer had spilled Asamoah Gyan's low cross.

Alaves forward Aloisi had earlier smashed his penalty down the middle of the goal on 27 minutes having been needlessly fouled by Francis Dickoh after a long ball over the top. Aloisi worked tirelessly up front on his own for an Australian side missing Liverpool winger Harry Kewell, Everton midfielder Tim Cahill and Blackburn Rovers defender Lucas Neill through injury.

Ghana, who like Australia reached the second round at the World Cup in Germany, were wasteful with their final ball in the first half and were mostly reduced to long range efforts. They increased the tempo after the break however and the African Nations Cup hosts of 2008 finally made the breakthrough when Agogo scored after a sustained period of pressure.

Middlesbrough keeper Schwarzer then kept his side in the game when he blocked Sulley Al Muntari's scissor kick. Blackburn Rovers right back Brett Emerton was a constant thorn in Ghana's defence but his cross midway through the first half was headed straight at Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson by Mark Bresciano. Kingson was substituted just after the interval following an injury suffered in the first minute.

He has to play in a European team to get called up.

TonyStarks, he's reffering to Didier Ya Konan who plays for ASEC Abidjan and came top joint goalscorer with Abutrieka with 8 goals. He's truly an amazing player and wont be in ASEC for long.
